Base Changes By Editing Xcomutil.cfg

I was trying to edit the starting base a bit and the readme told me to edit it in the cfg file. I found the places where the improved base and the alternate base are defined. They are both defined in two places. In one part there is a matrix setup to look like the base configuration for easy editing that uses words and another that uses numbers and F's for vacant spots. I tried swapping some of the positions of things around to see if I could effect a change but nothin doing. I saved the file and ran the game and still have the same default improved base setup.... What could I be doing wrong? I tried changing the two matrices seperately and together but nothing seems to work..... Any help would be appreciated. All this was done in TFTD.

Also, I just beat my first iron man game of XCOM 1 in the middle difficulties and wanted to move on to TFTD so I thought I would take a look around at some of the strategies and what's new sort of stuff. In the latest version of xcomutil is gauss ammo really infinite? I don't think I really like this if all it costs to produce is money. Seems kind of cheap... Is there any way to keep the other changes included in improved weapons and make it so I have to manufacture gauss ammo? Infinite ammo just feels so wrong :(

After changing the .cfg file you need to run XcuSetup again. The changes you've made to the layout should then appear when you start a new game and place your first base.
