Xcorps Specialists

Recommended Posts

hello=)

I was just thinking

Remembering that XCorp is an organisation with many operatives, maybe it would be good to have a small differance between Xcorp Agents, Soldiers and Operatives (perhaps).

Agents and Soldiers (and Operatives) would have different aspects in stats when it comes to using weapons.

Xcorp Agents would possess more agility and TUs as well as accuracy for using weapons that might be flagged "for Agents only", something like "light sniper rifle-whatsoever".

Agents should be the swiftest unit in battlescape, but should also be limited to certain light weapons like handguns, few rifles and a few alien tech stuff (and can not carry beyond light armor).

Xcorp Soldiers on the other hand would be tougher guys (and girls hehe) who are ability to carry the big weapons of mass destruction ^^ Like the [Heavy Cannon] from the original game, as an example. They should of course have more access to the heavy armor (like usual).

Xcorp Operatives could be units that are not true soldiers or combat units - however, they would have a very high accuracy bonus in using alien-technology weapons.

(Dunno if they are really needed, but maybe for something else =))

Hope this sounded interesting :D If not, its also oki ^_^

Groovie ^_^

I like the idea of having specialists, but I think the divisions you've made are too general, and don't leave a None of the Above group. To become a specialist, you'd need to be a well-trained soldier, not just some green rookie who wants to be a Man in Black. I think that we could combine the training system with the specialist rankings, making it mostly a cosmetic difference. For instance:

A soldier who is very well trained in the use of high accuracy weapons and stealth would have the title "Sniper".

A soldier who's reached a certain level of proficiency with heavy weapons would get the title "Artillery" (or something cooler sounding with the same general meaning).

A soldier with expertise in small arms (Pistols) and stealth could be an "Agent", while an Agent with high psi power could then become a "Psionic" or something like that.

Someone with proficiency in close combat weapons and explosives would be a "Commando", while another soldier with expertise in non-lethal weaponry would be a "Peacekeeper"

And so on.

Sounds........Familiar....

Like the idea though, regs could just be good old rookies, then go to a specific category of agent depending on experience. Of course, it would just be a title and I like the idea of cosmetic changes. With they would have the regular ranking system, then a specialist category, then maybe one or two levels of each category. Like extremely good psi users could be dark guys that float using psi powers and act more like etherials, with lighter weapons and good powers. Maybe the regular soldiers with no general specialization could stay in the regular categories though....

Hmm...Your idea has sparked an idea.

How about we give X-Corps control of keeping the alien crisis underwraps? Like a little Men-In-Black/Government agent simulator? :)

Your sub classes could work in well here (ie only agents can pacify civilians, threatening them with various nasty things if they talk about their alien encounter...)

What about the possebility to recruit soldiers from the diffrent countries that support you.

If eks. Great Britan would sign a threaty with the aliens you won't be able to recruit SAS soldiers.

The diffrent soldiers could be better but then also more expensive.

Not sure if we should have separate soldier or specialist types, could get very complicated. What could be interesting and easier to implement is individual skills.

Thus a particular recruit could be trained as a 'medic' (needed to use medikit effectively) or in 'demolition' (needed to use HE effectively) etc.

Possibly also weapon skills, 'Sniper', 'Heavy weapons' spring to mind. And what about 'Close combat' or 'Unnarmed'.
