Gurluas2000
quoted from the last page:This is great news. Codo Technologies are the Gollop brothers, developers of the originalRebelstar on the Spectrum, Laser Squad, and of course XCOM. Lovely. This goes to the head of my wants list. lingmiester
No kidding, i'm dusing off my GBA just for this. So rebelstar was the original name?
Guest Azrael
Interesting, looks like an anime version of X-Com , hope it's worth playing, though I'm still waiting for a game that matches Apocalypse
Zombie
From the pics, it looks like a stripped-down Laser Squad Nemesis. Might be worth a shot for those of you with a Game Boy. Moved to General Xcom Discussion
blabla130
If you haven't already seen this, it might be of interest to you: http://www.gamespot.com/gba/strategy/rebel..._gba_051305.asx Now, I know this isn't exactly X-COM heaven, but if it's done well, then maybe FFTA, KoL and other tactical RPG fans will like it and the sequal will be up to par and perhaps (gasp!) a good game! Iffy:Cartoony <shudder> style, very probably no base building and/or research. Spiffy:Action points, destructable tarrain, RPG/skills side may not suck. May introduce X-COM to new generaition. Edit: Found two previews: Gamespy:http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/l...reviewid=548263Gamespot:http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/l...reviewid=571228 By the way, I have yet to play any of the X-COM remakes or UFO: aftermath, so I don't know what they're like. QuantumPion
I just bought a new game boy SP (with the new screen) for travelling and buisness trips. I bought it primarily because of Fire Emblem, but then I noticed Rebelstar too. I've been playing it a little bit lately, and it really is x-com, just without the strategic part. The music is catchy, the controls are surprisingly easy to get used to, I love it! Also I think Rudy is hot. oh yeah, and it was only $20 too. Pretty sweet. Guest Azrael
I got bored of it during the first real mission, I guess turn-based really isn't for me.
Mzuz
Yes...the original X-com team first did Rebelstar..back in..ooo 86' I believe. There was another sequel out in about 89'. They then moved on and wanted to rework a few things, which created X-com! Atleast this is the story from what I've read/heard.
Tithis
I just saw this at the mall. Right away I told my friend "This looks just like X-Com except *****" (no offence to anyone here but thats what I said, I wouldnt use it on the forum normaly) edit by azrael: doesn't matter whether you said it or not, no usage of such words in an offensive meaning in our forums.
