slickrcbd
I'm not sure if this goes in the "General" form or not, but here goes. I'm being starved for Elerium although I have plenty of plasma clips, I don't have enough to make flying suites or even power suites. Nor can I operate the nifty firestorms and lightnings. I just detected a "Large Scout" on the hyperwave decoder with Mutons on an "Alien base" mission. This was followed by a couple of supply ships. None have reached Europe yet. I've saved my game. Can I attack any of those ships on the ground (especially the 150-units of elerium supply ships) and still get the alien base, or should I just ignore them until the base is built, then commandeer the elerium from the supply ships when they land? I need that elerium baldy enough I'm willing to let them build a base on Earth in exchange for Elerium shipments.
[NKF]
If they're all showing up at once, then that's the construction crew. At this stage the liklihood of the base appearing is very high. You might actually be able to get away with taking one supply ship. just make sure to make a separate save first. I'd leave the battleship well alone, as the base usually shows up at the point where it lands. . - NKF
slickrcbd
You say "when it lands".Can I send my skyrangers to recover the Elerium from the ships when they land or do I have to let them take off again? That battleship and those supply ships are tempting targets for my skyrangers, but I won't send my remaining interceptors anywhere near the battleship.I've got two skyrangers and a lightning. I'm not going to use the lightning for anything but ground attacks since I need to ensure I get elerium. I was thinking of letting the battleship and supply ships land and sending in the skyrangers to attack them on the ground. Then shooting down the large scout after it lands. If this will prevent the construction of the base then I'll have to let them go. There are four ships total: A large scout, two supply ships, and a battleship. [NKF]
What I meant was the point where the battleship lands is where the base usually shows up. Just to be on the safe side, leave the Battleship alone. - NKF
yarrow
hi if they DO build alien base, than your elerium problems will soon vanish anywaythey will soon send more supply ships on supply missions, just be patient please note that if battleship shows up, base is already establishedso you can safely go and shot down all of their ships I would go for landed battleship, and shot down all others for later missions( that is what I do ) you can also use another skyranger squad to attack one of the landed supply ships generally you should go for the biggest ship you can handleintact battleship means 200 elerium and much more stuff to recover( artifacts like blaster launcher + ammo, and aliens like commander ) while intact supply ship means 150 elerium, but mission is easier ( and faster )your choice yarrow Edited May 6, 2013 by yarrow
