Who Owns The License These Days?

Recommended Posts

Simple question

I was under the impression, wrongly it seems, that Atari owned the X-Com License. I say "wrongly" because this is the reply to my tech support email to them about a crashing problem with Interceptor.

"Hello Robert,

Thank you for contacting Atari Support. Unfortunately this is one of our older titles and we no longer provide technical support for. This is due to Atari, Inc. no longer owning the License for this franchise. We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this might be causing you to enjoy your game.

Thank You

Atari Support"

Notice This is due to Atari, Inc. no longer owning the License for this franchise

Any ideas who does own the license for the X-Com Franchise then?

Why, Take2 Games owns the license. ;)

BTW, I doubt Take2 would be able to help you either. :(

Ah, so Take2 got the license? Thanks for answering the question, I was just curious since the last time I dropped in on the whole X-Com scene everyone wanted to cave in Ataris skull because they had the license and were doing jack with it.

As you both say, I doubt they could help me either, and Microprose has gone the way of the dodo a long time back, so it wasn't really a tech issue I was posting about, I was simply intruiged when Atari said they didn't have the license anymore.

Btw, do you think Take2 will take (pardon the pun) exception to me making a total conversion based on the ships and equipment from X-Com Interceptor? (for Star Trek Armada 2)
