All the times i saved my two DOS CDs Xcom1 and 2 and tried to

reinstall them when i had some time. I never got it to run

under my P4 Win XP and Geforce.

Then i found this website (and this forum) - found this link:

i downloaded X-com1 CE, downloaded the loader from fodder, doubleclicked

the loader and i couldnt believe it XCom was running.

What i failed to do in the past 3 years suddenly came true.

CE fixes the compatibility problem with win2000/xp and f0dder's loader fixes the geforce problem.

the only difference between xcom1 DOS and xcom1 CE (which everyone hates) is that alien screams in CE suck compared to the great ones in DOS.

I'd just like to say thanks to the website creators and everyone else around here helping to solve people's problems with this game. I got the itch to play again once I played the Aftermath demo. I won't get Aftermath, but I'll be playing the heck out of this one again.

 

Suffice it to say I had some serious issues getting this game to work between garbled video, speed and sound. Every issue was discussed and resolved here and for that I'd like to shout out a THANKS!

 

It's actually amazing that present day game designers can't come close to creating a game with this much replayability, depth and originality.
