Hi!

I just encountered a bug, that I didn`t find here listed.

I had 3 bases. The second was once attacked, a ground battle began, that I won.
That`s why I thought, that everything was fine. But TWO DAYS later, the same ship, the same crew appeared again.
--> the same fight.

It is known to me, that it`s NO bug, when you have UFO defence systems, that finish an Ufo off, it will come permanently back, but not when a ground battle has taken place.

I tested it, what happened, if I lose the battle by quitting the mission.
Result: The ship comes back and attacks a non-existend base.
THEN the games clock gets back to a moment, the base existed.

Even if you erase the savegame, the game throws you into the past.

BUG-FIX:
Here was a similar "thread" --> "Ridiculous amount of alien retialation mission". The solution there helps here.
Just get a new missions.dat from a savegame right from the beginning, copy it into the savegame folder with the problems. That`s it. But the problem can occur again. Then the same solution.

Had same problem, didnt found solution, so i made a change to the laser pistol to shoot 200 damage explosives, and fended off the aliens like this until fusion balls + shield were prepared for them. yet it indeed seriously hindered my gameplay pleasure :(

I hate that kind of bugs.

Just copy a new missions.dat into the savegame folder.

But what else? My base defense tactic is undefetable unless enemy is Ethereal (then too many mind control attacks). But each base defense takes about 10 to 20 minutes because you can never be sure you got all of them either dead or dropped weapons, and you dont wanna risk on ironman superhuman.
When aliens attack EVERY DAY or two, that just takes your game to a crawl....

From the findings on a similar thread on strategycore, it seems to be happening because there are simultaneous base attack missions happening at the same time in several zones and the game's getting confused and not clearing the attack flag.

The easiest way to fix it is as mentioned:

Make a backup of your current save.

Start a brand new game. Save it.

Copy the Mission.dat from the brand new game and place it in your current save.

This results in all the missions being reset. You don't lose any progress you've made so far, but it will stop the infinite base attacks, and the rest of the month will play as if it was the first month. All alien bases and enemy ships that were on the map should still be there. Also if there was a Battleship on its way to attack your base before you reset the missions, you will probably have to do at least one more attack.

Once it all clears up, I recommend building a mind shield right away.
