SoleAngelus
Hi everyone, i have a strange problem running Apoc. I can get it mostly running fine (mouse speed, etc) under xp, but heres the problem... I have installed Apoc from the origional cd to D:\XCOMA and have applied the nocd from Alex_God (copied contents of the cd's XCOM3 folder to the install directory. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a183/SoleAngelus/xcom3a.jpg And i have applied the "mouse2kv 640 480 8 8 XCOMAPOC.exe SKIP" mouse fix to the xcom3.bat file.(along with the dosdrv line to invoke vdmsound) But when i got to configure the sound (running setup.exe from the install directory on my hdd) and i set "Soundblaster 220 7 1" as the settings, next time i run xcom3.bat it loads all the things in the bat file, but then stops and asks for the cd. (if i dont set the sound it runs fine but without sound obviously) So i need some help on two things.. 1. how to get sound working on this set up 2. How to get the bg music working once sound is working (both without the cd to save it being scratched) I have tried to be as indepth as possible, and i have spent hours looking over the forums for a solutoin but to no avail, Any help appreciated, Regards, SoleAngelus
spanks
I have the same problem as well. Also, I tried different sound settings, using Soundblaster 220 5 1, and when doing the sound test it plays the warning siren, but trying to run the game gives the no cd error. It seems that working sound results in the game not working.
[NKF]
The No CD error is a problem with the VDMS sound emulator itself. There's a depressingly easy fix. Just put any CD/DVD into the cd/dvd drive and it'll keep it happy and won't complain about having no cd. This appears to be a bit of an oversight on the part of the folks who made VDMS. It won't work unless the CD /DVD-Rom has something in it. As for your game's sound setup, ... you never did get into the game with sound on, right? Give my suggestion a try and see how things go. - NKF
