so i decided to do some statistics of the forum with the few "snapshots" of the forums which are on Archive.org. this is, obviously, very inaccurate, since i don't have exact data from the beginning of every month, and it's all averages and such, but i found that the forums gets:

3646 new posts / month

153 new members / month

of course i could've just got the averages by dividing the totals of posts / members by the total of months (40 months), which is probably more accurate, but that'd be too simple and easy :P

but if you're curious, that'd give you:

2456 new posts / month

110 new members / month

i also did some other thingies in excel, like some charts and pointed down Most Users Online and Forum Version along the "snapshots" in Archive.org. there's a screenie.

Perhaps September 2002 was the time of creation of this forum? :)

That's just crazy. The internet has been around for thousands of years. It's been instrumental in the rise and fall of countless empires. Websites simply can't grow as fast as you claim. :P

Actually I'm amazed how fast this site grew. For like 2 years it consisted of one thread like a blog or something. Micah loaded the forum software mid september of 2002. Less that a year later we overtook XTC as the number one for-fans-by-fans Xcom forum on the net.

For one thing, xcomufo.com is like a one stop center for almost everything XCom... ufopedias, guides, workarounds, you name it, it's either here, or there's a link to it.

Then there's also Project Xenocide, something that's every single XCom fan's greatest dream come through.

As soon as I read about Xenocide, I immediately went into the forums and registered just to be able to read the stuff being tossed around. It was all downhill from there, leading to my first co-op CT with Cpt. Boxershorts, Laser Weapons.

Man, I sure wish Cpt. was still around...

Oh, BTW, did anyone else noticed that the XCom 1 UFOpedia posted at xcomufo.com is from the Scott Jones' Xcomutil?
