New Weapons?

Well, there are all sorts of weapon mods and the like that can replace the existing weapons. Munkeylord has a few weapon mods, which you can get from:

There are probably plenty more mods elsewhere, but I wouldn't know where to look.

 

As for adding weapons... there are six unused items slots that you could probably add new weapons to, but there is one major problem. Weapons can only be added onto the Skyranger through an editor and not in the game because you won't ever see them in the inventory transfer menu. Also there's no easy way to modify the bullet image - it'll look like a tank cannon shell by default. (these slots are the ones listed as 'engineer' or 'medic' in editors like the Clark Wehyr Editor Suite)

 

In TFTD, these empty slots are used up as the vibroblades and the gauss clips.
