Xcom gold + winXP+SP3

Dug up my CE, installed it, patched it, started it up, then i got that video distortion thing, fixed that with the pathc i found here but. Only problem i have left now is when i exit the game and go back to Windows, the game doesn't really exit, it's still visible in the tasbar at the bottom (xcom gold) can't be terminated through taskmanager.

 

When taskmanager is used, it locks up the explorer. I can still access every other program that is currently open, but i can't access the start menu, or use the taskbar. Shutting down or logginf of through ctr+alt+del just results in messages that every running program cannot be terminated with the "end now" option.

Sounds familiar to anyone?

 

Since needing to reboot after playing xcom is kind of annoying, i dug up my old 3 disk and my usb disk drive and dosbox.

Game starts and exits fine, geoscape speed is a bit high but thats easy to fix. but when I spot a UFO and click interecept, the gamescreen turns black. and does nothing at all, changing cycles doesn't anything. (running patch 1.4, no mods). Again, sounds familiar to anyone?

 

I really want to play this game again, never got to beat it on superhuman, max I played and beat it on was veteran.

k got the dos version working

had to reduce processor to 30% in dosbox.

 

Would still be interested in the ce fix since i would love to use Seb76's extender
