Sorasil
I have followed the instructions on this site. It works like a charm. One thing people have forgotten to mention is that VDM sound isnt running constnatly, so doing sound test in setup.exe will either crash you or find nothing on autodetect. Instead setup Soundblaster pro 220 7 1 as the soundcard and accept it, thats the default for VDMsound. and make sure you either run the game with VDM sound or have dosdrv in the .bat file. Now the game will run with smooth non choppy sound without problem. If you have need to fiddle with the IRQ adresses etc VDMsound stores them in config.nt in the windows system 32 folder. Also people forget the detail about editing xcom3.cfg to point to c:\ after running the crack. Thats casuing many black screens cus the game looks for a CD in the wrong place is my experience. However, my problem and thus my question: In the .nfo file for the crack there is mentioned now to get movies and music working by copying the folders and the music file to the hard drive from my CD. I need to do this for two reasons, firstly the CD is old and scratched so playback is not stable, also due to CDrom drives being so much faste rnowadays than when apocalypse were released, the music may still be choppy reading from the CD, and the choppy music slows the entire game down. So yes i get music if i run the game from the CD. (that is if i do NOT use the patch and then run the .bat files in the so called FIX hosted on this site as the fake CD somehow points to my CD for music anyway) but its so choppy and fractured that tis unlistenable and for some reason slows the game down too. So i need to get it off the CD somehow. However when i do this copying process, and properly set the path in the xcom3.cfg as c:\ , it will still not run the music file. even if i direct the .cfg path to c:\xcoma or copys entire CD and point the .cfg to there. After fiddling with all manners of settings i wonder if i can fix this by somehow using fake CD or something ? Im at my wits end when it comes to this. Many here posts they got the music to work, but did it work smoothly and flawlessly for you reading from the CD, or after you copied it to the harddrive? The problem all seem to be with the .CFG file. when newly installed it has two squares in it when you edit it. And putting just c: there dosnt seem to help when it comes to the music. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide to help me fix this Music issue /sor. Edited August 6, 2006 by Sorasil
