Is it possible to interchange objects between maps?

I ask this because, in the map editor, i put a door from an Alien Artifact Site on a Alien Sub and saved the map. When i got back to the map the door was replaced by some other object. Is there some way to go around this?

Somewhere in the editor you can assign tile files to maps, there you will have to add the correct file to the sub map you're editing. There is a limit to how many files you can add though sub maps should have room left. There also is a limit to the number of tiles in the final map though which you may exceed this way. The only other way would be to edit the existing sub tiles and add that door to it.
Sorry it's a little vague, it's been a long time since I used this map editor, hopefully someone else comes along to help you.
