I'd completely forgotten that the CE version of Windows included TFTD and that I had installed it at the same time as Enemy Unknown.

I've just started a new game, and realized that my base placement may have been off for best coverage. I seeemd to make a good choice with the base off the middle of the eastern seaboard of the US, but subsequent bases don't seem to be near the USO activity.

Could somebody point me to a few pictures of the geoscape with the best locations for bases that I should shoot towards? A pictures speaks a thousand words.

I imagine there are multiple thoughts on this, with a few definites similar to how the middle of America and the middle of Europe were practically required in EU, but I'm just looking for things to shoot towards.

If there is already a thread on this topic of X-com base placement, please point me towards it, I utterly failed to find it with the search function. All I found was a discussion on the initial base placement.

Anywhere you'd pick a spot for your base, you'd still have a lot of Earth out of radar range.

I usually pick either Carribbean or South-East Asia to cover as much ocean as possible.

A very useful tool to "extend" your radar range is checking the Alien Activity Charts and

find out where they really are
