The Game Runs Slowly

I can get everything to work under xp. The only remaining problem is that the game runs quite slow. (Not that this problem will stop me from playing; just checking if there isn't some solution available that'll make the game even more enjoyable )

The thing is, sometimes the game will run at the right speed, but after a random short amount of time it will run slow again. This running at the proper speed happened mostly either when I had just been to windows for a while (with the windows button, keeping the game running) and then returned to the game, or when I had just started the game. But this is random, more often than not, the game will run slowly when I just started it up.

I got it to work pretty well under XP too, and had the same slowdown issues as you have. To me, it seemed like it only got up to speed when there were very few units left in a tactical mission.

 

What I did to make it run faster, was to run it under a virtual Windows 98 machine using VirtualPC. Other than that, I don't know how to fix it.
