Disclaimer: Most of this taken from jaakes, credit where it is due: http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=242035132. Jaakes doesn't address combining these two mods though. Also, you do not need Zombie/Bomb Bloke's mod (http://www.strategycore.co.uk/files/index.php?dlid=677) because XcomUtil has them built in as an option.

I'd just like to report, for the sake of X-COM, that the big mods UFO Extender and XcomUtil can work together. This is using the Windows Collector's Edition on Windows 7 x64. I am using UFO Loader dated 09:48, 3 April 2010 and XcomUtil 9.7 build 442. Here is what I've gathered after laborious trial and error:

1) The Collector's Edition has a black screen error when starting because of modern video card incompatibility. Both mods can fix this, but UFO Extender does it better. Enable Direct3D (D3D=1) in UFOExtender.ini, this will upgrade your graphics and also solve this problem. As you do this, make sure you say 'NO' to any offers made by XcomUtil to fix your graphics (Vista-7 patch program for blank screen, etc.)

2) In UFOExtender.ini, if you put 'Skip Intro = 1', you will get an instant crash. It's the only option that causes incompatibilty from UFOExtender's side as far as I know. It was also a bitch to find.

3) You will need to split the exe files (first option offered by XcomUtil) and enable support for UFOExtender in the XcomUtil setup. If you don't split the exe files, XcomUtil is basically useless in Windows. When you actually play the game, you will be using RunXcom.bat.

4) If XcomUtil offers to restore original sound effects (Geoscape and Tactical), just say no. It messed up my sound badly when I said yes.

5) Neither of these mods helps slow down the Geoscape clock for very fast computers. To do this, you will need ANOTHER MOD. There are two options, both of which involve a hacked 'UFO Defense.exe'.

5a) Niklata's Speed Fix: http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=242035086

5b) kyrub's Speed Fix and AI Upgrade: http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?sh...mp;#entry190377

Personally, I went with kyrub because I wanted the better AI, but I've tested both speed fixes and they work fine. Also, I haven't really played the game for more than 20 minutes so I don't know if there's any long-term instability, but it seems great so far.

Glad that I could help someone out. I love using XcomUtil for the random ship sizes and random deck plans, combined with UFO Extenders bugfix and mod capabilities. It feels like a whole new game, and I'm 4 months into my game with no problems so far.

Playing Ironman Xcom on Veteran with random ships is always fun. When I open that outside door into the alien craft, I never know what to expect!
