I played TFTD first, and got the idea that the lower difficulty levels don't protect you enough from the wrath of the aliens, while not giving enough small "X-Com supply" ships (result: weak soldiers with gauss rifles go fighting lobsters, eww...) So in UFO I started with Veteran, and then Superhuman.
Oh, did I mention yet that I'm a reload addict?
