What versions of xcom have the difficulty bug?

The bug that reverts to beginner level. I have 1.4 DOS version. Haven't tried higher difficulties yet....

All dos versions have the difficulty bug. All other platforms like the Windows Collectors Edition or the Playstation edition have the bug fixed.

To fix it in the dos version, you can use XComutil, or manually edit the geoscape.exe file with a hex editor to fix it.

If you have the game updated to v1.4 and your Geoscape.exe file is 382, 957 bytes long, you can edit offset 0x175BC (or 95676 in decimal) and change the value from 0x3c to 0x40. This causes the game to properly store the difficulty level in the save files.

Thanks, I changed that byte to 0x40 (after backing up the file).
