Hola, first I'll introduce myself,
I just started playing x-com again and enjoying ever minute of it (x-com 1). I then found Project Xenocide and I fell in love ;). I have already emailed the people (I assume, emailed xenocide@projectxenocide.com or something like that) about a position on the team. But anwyays onto the ideas.

I ahd a few comments and whatnot that I thought I would just consolidate into one thread. First of all the alien idea. I would love to be able to play aliens but you guys missed a perfect way to do this. The aliens always have the advantage until one point and that is when they the brain thing (forgot the name) is destroyed. But what if some of the aliens were able to rebuild, or another brain thing was somehow formed (adaptation already helps species stay alive, like some frogs that change sex to preserve their society). Then the humans would have the advantage over the aliens as they would be better off technologically as well as in the numbers. One part of the game could be stealth for your activities, trying to stay low key while doing their experiements and research. Dunno it's an idea.

I read a thread yesterday about how to handle destruction of buildings. One thing the developers may want to look at is use of ABT for structures instead of bsp (or whtever they are planning on using currently). ABT allows for dynamic structures which may be able to be used for blowing up walls. I'll get some links as I dont' have any offhand. Also anyone have any idea how geomod was done as that would work perfectly (geomod is Red FAction 1 (dunno about 2)'s method of destroying structures).

Also how do you guys think of doing the alien races. Do you think you will have them look and/or be named like the x-com aliens?

I had more but I can't think of ti now. Anwyays glad to meet you guys

Always good to meet a new fan. :)

Ahhh, didnt we all...

There is a thread called "Would you like to be a part of..." where you can apply to join the team. Try and find that.

EDIT: That post is here.

:huh?: Not sure what you are getting at here. Are you suggesting we base Xenocide after the events of Xcom1? The idea behind it is that we are remaking the game, initially exactly as the game was before, but without the bugs (we hope).

I remember really liking the ability to destroy things in Red Faction. This would be something to discuss with the team, so try and get some links and info and post them. That way people can look at it and we can see if it can be of any use.

Also how do you guys think of doing the alien races.  Do you think you will have them look and/or be named like the x-com aliens?

Take a look around the forums. There are multiple discussions about this kind of thing, but I think the general idea is to have new looks and names.

Anwyays glad to meet you guys

 Glad to have you around. Dont forget to join in the fun! :happybanana:

Ah maybe i'll just post there about it thanks :)

Well not exactly, I just proposing that an option for the Alien part of the game being based after the human game, thus to lower the advantage of the aliens over the humans to make it more even.

That would be the best thing to do. Follow the guidelines in that thread.

I see. I guess thats a possibility. But that section is still being discussed so there is no decision as to how (or even if) we are going to do that.

If I'm not greatly mistaken, the alien perspective will only be playable in multiplayer. And we definitely need ideas to make multiplayer balanced from the beginning to the end cause it's impossible to win aliens with rifle/pistol/crenade and stuff in the beginning. Maybe alien side can't choose everytime what race they play. For example the brain thinks human is a easy piece of cake so it will only let us control floaters with plasma pistols. When losses starts to happen, the brain will give control to sectoids and plasmarifles and bigger ships.. and so on? We have to give it a lot of thoughts and time to make it balanced..

Certainly several good ideas for the alien side are floating around, and this one is as good as others IMO. I agree that this would be a good way to put the aliens at a 'disadvantage' without taking away tech they already have.
