The game is fun, despite whinings of all sorts I find the graphics very nice, definitely better than UFO: Aftershock. It's really good that they removed the massive amount of missions from this game, unfortunately the game can still get very repetitive after you research advanced battle armors and shields, still this problem is not as serious as it was in UFO: Aftershock where when you had XM-1 Assault Rifles and Medium Armors you were virtually unstoppable.

I found myself frequently having to fall back while being technologically behind, that was a nice change, to actually have trouble fighting the Aliens :P not to mention when the Martians show up with their powerful plasma weapons (actually lost someone to them :().

The only real problem I encountered was that after researching a certain amount of technologies, there seems to be very little left to do in Mars besides terraforming and constantly fending off enemy attacks to your territories. I put defenses on all border territories but that did not seem to affect their attacks.

True about Aftershock, slapping some recoil compensators and a ?gyro? on the M60 reeked havok.. though the appearance of the spaceghosts' places you into a position to adapt to energy weapons :(

 

The graphics from Afterlight reminded me a little of the 'pip boy' from the fallout series.. which was a nice flashback.

Found the gattling cannon to be a most welcome addition when crossed with ragdoll physics LOL

 

Don't forget the drones Az, they seem to drop like flies. I've tried everything with them and they never seem to survive a confrontation ^_^

Hehe, I never really found a use for them :) way too slow and/or weak for my taste, only thought they would be useful against the Expedition when I was in war with them, since they are not affected by psi and Expedition forces use psi A LOT. Unfortunately the way psi is handled in this game is not exactly the best, as my people would get under psi attack from Reticulans very hidden, and no other Reticulan had found my position (I was hidden myself inside a building with the entrances heavily guarded), my troopers would die to each other just like that...

Luckily the Reticulans from the Reticulan faction rarely use psi and are very easy targets :D

 

A good point about this game is that it forces you to use several different kinds of weapons all the time. In Aftershock with Assault Rifles you were practically ready for anything (I carried one or two heavy energy weapons to handle Starghost Clouds), but here you need energy weapons for Beastmen, Projectile weapons for Reticulans and cutting weapons for Martians (buzzsaws, yeehaw!)
