Proofreading

Hey everyone, I thought to post this to let you all know how the Proofreading Taskforce will be working, and why, to avoid any misunderstandings.

First of all, when a text in Active reaches the point of completion, and if the author and the rest of the members fell that way, the text will be moved to Complete by either RustedSoul, Dipstick, or me.

Once the text is in Complete, it might be there for a short period of time, but not for long. As long as it's there, it can be moved back to Active if we are asked to by anyone with a good reason to do so.

Once we are able to, the text will then be moved to the Proofreading Taskforce subforum, where it will be proofread by any member of the team. While the text is there, if we feel like the text is incomplete, it will be moved to Active and the author will be informed and asked to complete following our comments. If the author is unavailable and no other member comes to work on the text, any of us will work on this. Our involvement on this part will be limited to our amount of work and time at the moment. Now this is a very important part, once the text is moved to proofreading, it will not be available to anyone outside the proofreading taskforce to comment on or made modifications. It will not be moved back to Active by the author's request once the proofreading is finished, any requests to make rewrites will be disregarded. It is important to me that you understand the reasons of this, proofreading takes time, we not only correct grammar and spelling, but we also check for the way the text is written, search for incoherencies, and try to improve it as much as possible by a conjointed effort. All this work takes its toll on time and effort, and you have to understand that we all have many things to do other than proofreading, we work or study or both and cannot afford to lose time in such a way. And besides the time issue, it's really frustrating, and I mean really frustrating, to proofread a whole text and then be told that the author will rewrite it because he wants to. Any texts being proofread will not be moved to active unless our team feels like it has to, our corrections once made and revised, will be final, no rewrites after that (no exceptions, unless there is a very strong reason, like the text is incompatible with something like an art concept). Do not feel like we will do what we please with the texts, all modifications are aimed at improving the text as much as possible, and all revisions made by any of our members will be double checked by RustedSoul (if available), dipstick and me, so don't worry.

Once it's made initial proofreading, the text will be moved to Phase 1, all texts there will be unavailable for replies. Then the texts will be proofread again and more thorougly, once it's done will be moved to Phase 2 and will be considered final unless something comes up.

I hope you all understand and agree with this.

Cheers.

Az

I would just like to add that I am fully in support of this. Just to give a really basic example which happened to me through pure stupidity.

When proofreading some texts direct from winrar, I must have forgotten to save them, or it screwed up or something. I lost about 15-20 amended texts. THAT was solely due to an error. Now, they took me about 2 hrs or maybe a bit more, and I was extremely annoyed to say the least. Now, take that feeling, and magnify it by several orders of magnitude, and that is what the proofreaders feel if they are interrupted or told to restart. Please understand that that is the reason why privileges have been altered around the CTD area. Thank you.

Some texts have been moved back to active due to their need for extensive rewrites. As the Proofreading Taskforce has enough as it is, they have been moved to active to give everyone the chance to help.

The texts are:

Plasma Cannon

Laser Cannon

Smoke Grenade

Satchel Charge

Flashpod

Pistol

Grenade

Plasma Defense

Missile Defense

Everyone may give a hand with the rewrites, we will gladly provide any assistance we can.
