Constant large (~170 per day) alien activity increase?

Over the past month and a half I've been seeing a large, constant increase in the North Atlantic alien activity score - between 150 and 200 points per day. Now, there's an alien colony just off the coast of Africa, but unless those give vastly greater score to the aliens than bases in UFO did (5 points per day, right?), I don't see how the aliens could be getting such a massive amount of points all the time. I only pulled off a positive score last month due to an artifact site on the first day and an infiltration fleet I intercepted and assaulted on the last couple days. Anybody know what could be going on, here? My main base with a Transmission Resolver is pretty much right in the middle of the North Atlantic, so if it was USO activity, I should be seeing most of it, and if there were any more bases, I should be seeing the supply ships, too.

Anyone see this before? Are colonies just that brutal in TFTD? Is my save game bugged? Even with this extra -5000 points per month (!), I think my game is still winnable, but I'd have to act pretty soon, get the commander, and head for T'Leth before I really want to.

Oh, and I'm using the Steam version in DosBox 0.74 with XComUtil 9.60, if that makes any difference

The colony should be fine and it should just generate 5 points a day.

Had a look at your save and what I found interesting was the amazing amount of alien activity that I observed after speeding through the next few days. I was up to Alien Sub-90+ before I gave up on trying to reach the end of the month. From base construction to retaliation, etc.

Also one other interesting thing I spotted when some of your Transmission Resolvers came on-line. There are two fleet supply cruisers hovering indefinitely in the air at the north pole. I reloaded the game and sent your Barracuda to investigate, and they were indeed there from the start. They're obviously bugged and that might be part of the cause for your creeping score levels.

The game must have had a glitch somewhere along the line and this is the result.

Interesting. Thanks. I built that northern base a while after I first noticed this problem (before it got bad enough that I decided it couldn't possibly be normal), and I had been sending barracudas and that extra Triton (that I bought for this purpose) up to the arctic circle to patrol, but never all the way up to the north pole. I think I detected one of those supply cruisers when it first arrived - it actually appeared around the equator in the Pacific, but was unselectable, would jump around east and west short distances, and disappear and reappear completely every few time increments.

When I have time (tomorrow, probably) I might try to figure out if there's a bugged alien base or something that they're trying to reach in LOC.DAT. In any case, unless I can shoot those subs down, I guess I'd better go grab a lobsterman commander pronto so that I can go to T'Leth next month if necessary.

Nope, destination coordinates for those ships are within the expected ranges given on the wiki, and no other entities are out of place. They are just messed up, for some reason. I wonder what would happen if I set their vertical position to something valid on the planet, if they would recover. I may try that... but I just noticed someone posted an X-Com 4 XP fix, so I'm probably looking at that first.
