Why there are different gui's for battlescape. I personally like the first one, it reminds me more X-com Enemy Unknown GUI which was better imo. Weapons look also bit different. I saw firstly same interface under Terror from the deep article in the 1997 year German Playstation magazine which i have. When i got my playstation version of the game once, i was bit disappointed about this yellowish interface. Looks kinda ugly to me. So i have begun to wonder what version of Tftd this is. Maybe there is possibility to get it. Anybody else?
illegal youth
but why would you want the older interface? the new interface has more options (TU save for kneeling and a TU reduction to zero to control reaction fire) and its easier to see the buttons. illegal youth
to each his/her own, i suppose. to me, functionality and ease of use come on top of style. i definitely made use of the TU reduction (no more accidental launchings of explosives at my soldiers!) and the kneel save, since i always like to kneel at the end of the turn. I agree with you but I played X-com EU without those, like we all. Can't say i would much miss those buttons in Tftd. I like to kneel each soldier after end of the turn also but i can save AP-s for kneeing without the button too. But i didn't came here to ask this to argue. I just want to know what version of game is this and maybe it is possible to get it somewhere. I want to know it nevertheless the gui has less functions. Sorry for my english Edited July 19, 2007 by sephic
illegal youth
i hope i didn't give the wrong impression.... i wasn't trying to argue. i, too, am interested in the reason for the different GUIs. some people have said that there's a TFTD with a variant title, called "XCOM: Terror Unknown" -- at least, i think that's what it was. maybe that's the answer? [NKF]
You're probably looking at one of the screenshots from an earlier beta release of the game. I believe I saw some on XCommand way back when. The battlescape sprites for the Ion Armour also looked considerably different. It might be possible to re-skin the interface. We'd just need something to port the interface images into something we can work on, then convert it back. - NKF

Or where to get those interface images. I have no X-com moding experience other than modifying liglob.dat file for more money . But if there is possibility, i could give it a try.
