[[Micah]]
The only sounds we can legally use in Xenocide are royalty-free sounds or custom sounds you/we create ourselves.

Cpl. Facehugger
but we could use these sounds as examples as what our sounds should be like right?
hippyjon
yeh, examples are good. heck, we could probably rip em, mod em, and no-one would notice... not that we should do anything like that of course  anyway theres bound to be loads of royalty free weapons sounds around. anyone finds any (or anything that might be useful) post it here or whack it in a new thread. RustedSoul
Took a couple of shots out my bedroom window with a .243Â the enclosed area has taken that "boom" sound from it, maybe bass can be added to it.. dunno243soundfx.zip
j'ordos
You can just fire your gun from your bedroom window?? Nice way to get rid of pesky neighbours I bet
RustedSoul
You can just fire your gun from your bedroom window?? Nice way to get rid of pesky neighbours I bet yes, I'm affraid so  I doubt my neighbours will bother me  anyway I made another, used a pissy .22 slide action this time, not sure if it will be useful, but there is always hope. Just for laughs, I'll break out the 12 gauge tomorrow then In a few days I'll see if i can put a little tape recorder outside and shoot bullets over it so we can get a "bullet wizzing past" sound.22soundfx.zip
Puasonen
Or you can shoot the tape recorder and get a HIT sound
j'ordos
I doubt my neighbours will bother me Hmmm... you're from australia apparently, guess your closest 'neighbours' are about 10 miles further down the road  edit: well, maybe that .22 does not sound like a true alien killer, my water pistol sounds more impressive than that  (just kidding, of course) Edited February 7, 2004 by j'ordos
RustedSoul
very perceptive j'ordos, yes, I'm an Australian with a 600 acre buffer zone  my water pistol sounds more impressive than that yeah, i don't hold much respect for the .22 either, but for a civilian it's the closest thing to an automatic weapon in this country. Also the cocking sound might be useful Or you can shoot the tape recorder and get a HIT soundNyyperoid , it's tempting, though that does give me another idea. so here's the 12g, also with an edited version to see if it could sound more appropriate edit.. and being the d*ckhead that i am, i forgot to post the file12gSoundfx.zip Edited February 8, 2004 by RustedSoul
Puasonen
I think they sound good. Now we only need a battlescape to test them in action
RustedSoul
Ta Nyyperoid I wonder if it's possible for the programers to make a fixed demo battlescape that can be used as a sound studio. probably got enough on their plate as it is i guess. Robo Dojo 58
How about you turn the sound down on X-COM? ('-' on the keypad, I think)Then play the sound whenever an agent shoots?
