[stewart]
Doesnt it need 30 or 60 or something like that. You need a full load or its useless to you. One nice thing though is when you buy the tank it comes fully loaded.
Woudschim
aparantly not. i just bought it and i cannot use it
j'ordos
That's because it doesn't come with free ammo (unless you use it for base defense, in that case don't bother with buying ammo). I you want to go out on missions with your new tank you'll have to buy the ammo too, 8 rockets for the rocket tank and 30 or 50 (I'm not too sure which) rounds for the cannon tank. [stewart]
Let me guess; 50 rounds not loaded?
Dover
It's 30. Should I feel like a nerd for knowing all the clip amounts/damages for every weap in the game? Edit: Why buy a tank/cannon anyways? It kinda really sucks. Go for the rocket tank. It's much more effective, and I've never run out of ammo with it before. [stewart]
The cannon tank is like the Heavy Cannon; you fight the terrain with it. You use it to make holes.

You use it to make holes. You might just as well use the rocket tank for that, the holes are just a bit bigger In UFO I always used the rocket tank, that changed in TFTD though (damn underwater-only torpedoes! ) Edited January 20, 2006 by j'ordos
[NKF]
On the easier levels, you can easily get away by starting with just rocket HWPs. But have you tried fighting superhuman cyberdiscs with the rocket HWP? You simply won't like it. No, you really won't like it. 3 or more rockets required per cyberdisc, and the rocket tank only has 8 rounds to share between the 3 or more cyberdiscs you'll meet. The cannon HWP on the other hand has plenty of ammo to go around and can take out more cyberdiscs than the rocket tank. It's no big deal if you've got laser rifles or some other hard hitting weapon, like the large rockets or HC-AP shells, but when you're just starting and you get your first terror site or base raid before you've got a chance to even research laser tech, a cannon tank is quite a reasonable defense against cyberdiscs. - NKF
Dover
I just recently started a superhuman game. My first one, actually. I encountered my first terror mission around March 17th, and by then I had laser rifles/Heavy Plasmas, so I came out fine. Little cyberdiscs don't stand a chance. Sharp
I like to use rocket tanks for getting rid of those pesky walls, the downside is that smoke is created which lowers vision, a cannon tank can make more, erm precision holes instead. I prefer rocket tanks because1) They are HE, so damages weaker underarmour.2) Although accuracy isnt too great at snap, its generally hard to miss completly when compared to a cannon.3) Area affect means that it is great for taking out groups of aliens. Cannon are good for base defence/attack as the narrow hallways means you miss less, they make good defensive barriers for soldiers as well (though laser tanks are more cost effective once you can produce them). floater medic
damn i havent used a HWP in a while, i might build a HWP plasma soon i guesse........... just for base defence though, makes normal missions too easy i find, well except ethereal bases *shudders*
Pherdnut
The ones you build yourself aren't bad, but the ones you have to buy are WAY too expensive. Four agents are much more economical and effective. If I was playing a no reload game, I might consider using them when my agents started beefing up their stats though.
