An enormous worm unleashed upon a terror site, eating any humans in sight as well as destroying nearby structures. The creature is a juggernaut at thirty feet long and weighing multiple tons. It is so vicious that even its alien owners have trouble controlling it, and sometimes it is even a threat to them. The Terrorworm is deployed only during dire situations or large-scale terror attacks. The creature's fury would be chaotic during a base attack.

Its a small flying spot with impressive speed, but no attacks. It have psi powers though. No armor at all, and very low hp (a single hit kills them, even with a pistol). It is resistant to HE, INC, and STUN, and therefore cannot be captured alive (1 hp, or 0 hp, so no stun). Small, hard to hit, and often hide in the dark.

Similar in appearance to the Mutants suggested earlier, but similar in in gameplay function to physically stronger, less-psionic sectoids (think Gillmen). Should appear on some sectoid UFOs in the mid-late game, but mostly in bases (where they're being bred) and on infiltration missions. Look like a bit larger version of the Sectoids with hair, a (very small) nose and somewhat smaller, yet still totally black eyes.

But on another note, it would be cool to see a stronger, more humanoid-style alien with next-generation armor, that has some respectable psi-abilities, and a high level of strategic intelligence to boot. A kind of more formidible enemy that would appear mid-game, so to speak. Perhaps this character could be the byproduct of alien genetic experiments on captured humans?
Even more interesting is the idea that the aliens, if the player isn't careful enough to stop them from advancing their research efforts from going too far, could engineer a species of human replicants that could infiltrate the player's organization itself, even go so far as to impersonate regular human soldiers. That does sound a bit radical, but heck--it's worth floating it for discussion, right?

Aren't those called teh Ethereals??No offense, but some of these suggestions seem to deviate somewhat from the more, I dunno, tangible feel of the original...?

I like the idea of a chameleon alien, some of them could also have an ability (psi-based, tech-based or innate) to trurn invisible qhen not moving, say for a limited number of turns per battle... That would be ccol
