Yoni
In the game I'm currently playing, I reached the point where I can go to T'leth and thought "meh, what's the point?" First I skipped all the ships that last month, while doing the whole research chain of the lobster men commanders, up to "T'leth". Then I just quit the game. It's kind of a no brainer and a boring mission either way. Up to what point does everyone else keep playing the game? When do you consider yourself to be victorious? [NKF]
Win? People win the game? I don't know, I tend to stop playing once I have everything I need to go to the final mission and steamroll it. Unfortunately TFTD's final mission is quite a disappointment - a standard shipping lane mission or artefact site always felt more difficult. The most fun is had while you're building up to launching the final mission. Once you've got easy access to great equipment and can easily pump out super soldiers, it's time to start a new game and do it all over again. That's how I usually approach UFO and TFTD - and even Apocalypse. - NKF
Mustang
I've never done the last mission on any X-COM game, towards the endgame my soldiers become so powerful Cydonia, T'leth, or the other dimension won't stand a chance
Ruivo
I usually play to break my own records. How many UFO's shot down.. how many aliens killed with my main soldier (the one who always carries my name).. How many years i can keep playing (years on-game, of course ) how many bases i destroy, and things like that. It's quite fun. For example.. i still have the mark of 5000 ufo's to reach. I never research any leaders. Edited October 25, 2007 by Ruivo
Yoni
Wow, I don't think I've ever had a game last into the second year.I'm at the point where I can do T'leth now, but I'm just delaying it. I'm playing some more missions, letting the aliens build some colonies. I'm sort of waiting for mixed crews to show up so I can get a calcinite for the hand to hand weapons.I've equiped only two soldiers with mc disruptors but even that makes it quite easy. reckoner
Once I've reached the point when I can go to T'leth, I pretty much stop playing because I've basically won the game already. What T'leth really needs is shorter levels, or... boss mobs! A unique and powerful alien unit would go a long way to reducing the tedium of T'leth and would actually make me look forward to beating the final mission. What are my options here, for implementing boss mobs into the game? Was the source code ever released? Are there re-makes that do the original any justice? Zombie
What are my options here, for implementing boss mobs into the game? Was the source code ever released? Are there re-makes that do the original any justice?None, no and no. Though with bosses, the game would begin to look like every other shoot-em-up game out there. That's what I like about the first two games - strategy, not button pressing. Then again, the end is a little lack-luster. - Zombie
[NKF]
Technically T'Leth is already 3 short levels. Heck, each level is only 2 layers high. - The good old Colony or Artefact sites always felt longer to play and the interior level always felt more dangerous. The colony interior maps were nasty thanks to having the full compliment of 4 map layers. Mind you, if I remember correctly, the first level of T'Leth is chock full of of Aquatoids carrying almost only Disrupter Pulse Launchers. That was always the hardest part for me. The middle level is middling and the final level basically railroads you to the boss who is too sleepy to fight back - it just stumps you a bit by locking the ability to save the game while playing the third level. - NKF Edited October 30, 2007 by NKF
Placki
Well, I never got to T'leth level ( Im a noob ) - but I know one thing - the time of the game I enjoy most, a time of serious shitf in philosphy - is the time when I get ion armor, research it, produce it, put it on aquanauts. The looks on the Tasoths and Gillmans faces when they fail to kill my yellow-dressed rookies with a few rounds of Sonic guns - PRICELESS! P.
