With psionic amplification equipment, Greys are capable of communicating with groups or directing their psionic powers into more aggressive and disturbing forms.

Mainly an issue with gameplay here.

In the source of inspiration, researching greys ranking Leader and above would provide you with the ability to research Psi.

Also, it is likely(or rather a necessity given that they have no other means of communicating), that Greys can easily communicate with groups and/or other species with relative ease, but only those with training and/or greater mental strength and/or higher ranking can exert their minds over others.

Especially since unless you want to tamper with the gameplay and have the Greys require Psi-amps inorder to MC troopers.(Which would, imho, screw up the gameplay.)

*Edit* Something that just hit me:

and the large head that is not made of separate plates suggests that these creatures are not born the way we are or any other way we can think of

Unless the Greys are assembled fully grown, and do not go through ANY KIND of growth process, be it from embryo to fully grown or accelerated childhood, it's likely that at somepoint the Grey was a probrably smaller mass of undifferentiated cells that grew into the adult Grey. As such, I believe that a solid cranium is probrably unlikely, unless the Greys were born with relatively small craniums, which is not the case here. Any other kind of process that could allow a Grey to spring "Fully grown from the forehead of Zeus" is rather difficult and an unlikely process.

do you have any suggestion for replacing those parts? If you could make a rewrite with your suggestions, I'd appreaciate it :), sorry but I have my hands full for the moment. Edited by Azrael

Hmm...

Did a little rewriting, and some re shuffling of the paragraphs.

Moved the mission report exerpt to the bottom because most fluffs are either after the summary paragraph or at the bottom of the report.

GREY

The Grey is a physically weak but highly intelligent life form. They are as vulnerable and susceptible to injury as Humans are (if not more so), but their natural psionic abilities make their battle formations, like their society as a whole, incredibly effective.

The Greys are relatively easy to keep alive and contained due to their small size and low deviation from current life on Earth. Their small bodies require very little nutrition, which can be easily provided through a series of injections directly into their blood stream. Their physiology seems to be well suited for our planet, though they prefer moist, warmer climates. They are also almost completely harmless and passive when unarmed and separated from their chain of command and fellow Greys. Hence, they are not violent or dangerous captives, facilitating extremely close examination, and requiring little advanced containment equipment.

The Grey’s large eyes allow it to see well in the dark, but they do not reflect light like nocturnal life on Earth. Its hearing is virtually non existent; it can only feel loud sounds since it lacks hearing mechanisms. This creature is unable to communicate by sound and can only make a screeching noise. The Alien has an extremely developed brain resulting in the oddly shaped cranium.

We are now able to confirm that Greys communicate through a basic form of telepathy. Without advanced psionic amplification equipment this is limited much like oral communication, in terms of range and potency. Standard Grey communication involves communicating in concepts and ideas with each other, however the speed of communication and not needing to have line of sight provides a quasi–hive mind setup, with each being acting as a node within its group and passing information down the line. On a more sinister note, personel working near captive Greys have reported that on occasions, they would feel an impulse to assist the captive. While there have been no incidents so far, our researchers theorize that perhaps with training or external aids, these creatures might be able to forcibly control other beings.

With psionic amplification equipment, Greys are capable of communicating with groups or directing their psionic powers into more aggressive and disturbing forms. Remove this paragraph entirely, above paragraph already covers this.

The lack of sexual organs and the large head that is not made of separate plates suggests that these creatures are not born the way we are or any other way we can think of, therefore it is possible they are genetically modified. The lack of even vestigial reproductive organs suggest that either they reproduce through a Grey "Queen", much like bees do or through artificial means. However, attempted telepathic communication with the Greys regarding thier lifecycle has thus far resulted in mental images of cold, sterile machines, which have lead us to believe that perhaps they Greys are a race of clones.

Due to its telepathic ability, its society indeed behaves much like a hive mind with amazing efficiency but a total lack of emotion. This efficiency is accentuated by their profound sense of logic; individual Grey call signs seem to be based on a binary sequence. As an example of their hierarchy and co-ordination, when confronted by a potential threat or a fellow endangered Grey, an individual will change behaviour rapidly, either using it’s psionic abilities to mentally attack nearby threats, or adopting a “fight or flight” response in conjunction with other Greys, with the original individual acting as a temporary controller or commander. Hence, these creatures are able to form, dissolve and adapt command chains instantly. We still, however, believe there is group of permanent high-ranking Greys operating somewhere.

As part of the Alien threat, Greys function as scouts and observers due to their intelligence, large capacity for science and technology, good communication network, and incredible ocular acuity. The similarities between the appearance of this life form and the descriptions given by victims of alien abductions leads us to believe that the race in question is highly active in human experiments and research into our genetic structure, we should be wary of any progress they might have made in genetic mutations and cloning technology.

Operating mainly in lightly armed research vessels, they should be considered a reasonable threat to any operation.

“… unfortunately, Sgt. Thompson’s role in the assault mission was to provide a base of fire for troops advancing on a UFO crash site. The abandonment of his position led to a lack of suppression support which probably resulted in the above average casualties mentioned. Thompson still refuses to discuss the incident, and following concerning CAT-scan results from the medical team, he has been removed from active field duty.”

Actually, we might want to remove this. It seems more fitting to be in the autopsy than the "live" report (except without the telepathic communication part, dead aliens can't talk....).

Hmm... Went back and read the autopsy abit, and decided to meddle around with this abit...

The apparent lack of even vestigial reproductive organs suggest that either they reproduce through a Grey "Queen", much like bees do or through artificial means. However, attempted telepathic communication with the Greys regarding thier lifecycle has thus far resulted in mental images of cold, sterile machines, which have lead us to believe that perhaps they Greys are a race of clones.

A study of these alien creatures show that they are startlingly unadapted to living. Unabled to digest simple liquid foods, much less ingest solid foods, no signs of means by which they pass out either liquid or solid waste, nor any signs of vestigial reproductive organs. The Greys are effectively unable to survive unsupported in the wilderness. Even our experts have difficulties with keeping the captives alive by using IV drips and dialysis machines. All of this point to the fact that either the Greys are a race of disposable drones or are a race that is entirely dependent on technology and machinary ingest nutrients, even to the extend of using it to continue their race by cloning. Given the evidence of highly organized hierarchy as well as the fact that attempted telepathic communication with the Greys regarding thier lifecycle has thus far resulted in mental images of cold, sterile machines, reinforce our believe that it is the later.

I'm not too sure about the bolded text. I mean, the evidence that I used to suggest it is actually VERY shaky, and I somehow like the thought that we don't know wheter the Greys are just worker drones for a greater society or an extremely degenerate race.

It seems to me that this paragraph belongs more in an autopsy than anywhere esle. HOw else would they know it had no anus or bowels? Anal probe? ANd then when there was a missing anus they made a rudmentary one? please. That one paragraph isn't one i like at all

Err... I personally think that something missing an anus would be very obvious, especially, if you prepped an anal probe and had already bent the grey over the table to get at it :P

Then throw in a couple of MRIs or what nots when they discover this, and I'm pretty sure the scientist can draw the conclusion that the creature is "gutless" without too much strain on their many, many brain cells...

Hmm... The above sentence seems strangely suitable as a fluffie somewhere...

Hmm... Clash in the CT itself...

Suggest that we modify the later to "Had our scientist not come up with the idea of using IV drips and dialysis machines, we would not have been able of keeping them alive for extended periods.".

BTW, the above clash is purely my fault... But that's what reading and drafting CTs are all about I guess...

Anyway, aside from that, I can't find anything else that seriously needs rewriting, and vote that it be pass to Proofread, where Azrael will have to deal with it again :P

GREY

X-Net://Pegasus.net/Alien/Species/Grey

The Greys are is a physically weak but highly intelligent lifeforms. They are as vulnerable and susceptible to injury as humans are, (if not more so), but their natural psionic abilities make their battle formations, like their society as a whole, incredibly effective.

The Greys are relatively easy to keep alive and contained in containment due to their small size and minimal needs low deviation from current life on Earth. Removed this part because little in this CT suggests similarity to “current life on Earth”. Their small diminutive bodies require very little nutrition sustenance?, which can be easily provided through a series of injections directly into their blood stream. Their physiology seems to be well-suited for our planet, though they prefer moist, warmer climates. They are also almost completely harmless and passive when unarmed and separated from their chain of command and This phrase appears a bit redundant; being separated from fellow Greys also means being separated from the chain of command fellow Greys. Hence ”As such” or “As a result”?, they are not violent or dangerous captives, facilitating and do not require extremely close examination or , and requiring little advanced containment equipment.

The Grey’s large eyes allow it to see well in the dark, but strangely, light reflects off their opaque corneas instead of their retinas like in nocturnal terrestrial life. they do not reflect light like nocturnal life on Earth. Changed to be more specific and match the AWD model. Its sense of hearing is virtually The hearing sense is nonexistent if it doesn’t have hearing organs nonexistent; it can only feel loud sounds by their vibrations since it lacks appropriate hearing mechanisms organs. This creature is unable to does not If a creature can make sounds, communication is possible. Changed to say that Greys don’t communicate via sound communicate by sound; we have recorded their sporadic screeching noises, but they seem to be of little consequence and can only make a screeching noise.

These Aliens have has an extremely developed brain resulting that results in the its characteristically oddly shaped oversized cranium, and we are now able to confirm that Greys communicate through a basic form of telepathy. Without advanced psionic amplification equipment this is limited, much like oral communication, in terms of range and potency. Standard Grey communication seems to involves communicating in the exchange of discrete concepts and ideas with to each other., hHowever, the speed of indirect telepathic communication and not needing to have line of sight provides a quasi–hive mind setup network?, with each being acting where each Grey acts as a node within its group and passing and transmits information down the line to the next Grey. On a more sinister disconcerting? note, personnel working near in the vicinity of? captive Greys have reported that on occasions, they would feel an occasional impulses to assist the captive. While there have been no incidents so far, our researchers theorize that perhaps with training or external aids, these creatures might be able to forcibly exert mental? control other beings. Do Aliens need psi-amps to use psi? If not, remove the “or external aids” part.

A study of these Alien creatures shows that they are startlingly unadapted to living Maybe: “startlingly ill-adapted to life". They are unable to digest have difficulty digesting the most simple liquid foods, much less ingesting solid foods, and there are no signs of a means by which they pass out either designated liquid or solid waste excretion systems, nor any signs of vestigial reproductive organs. The Greys are effectively unable to survive unsupported in the wilderness. Had our scientist not come up with the idea of using Without IV drips and dialysis machines, we would not have been capable of keeping not be able to keep them alive for extended periods of time. All of this points to the fact suggests that either the Greys are a species of disposable drones or one whose survival that is entirely dependent on technology in order to both and machinery to ingest nutrients, even to the extend of using technology to continue and perpetuate their race by through cloning. Given the evidence of Greys’ highly organized hierarchy, as well as the fact that attempted telepathic communication with the Greys regarding their lifecycle has thus far resulted in mental images of cold, sterile machines, reinforce our belief that it is the latter Deleted to skirt psi consistency issues we believe that the Grey society is too intricate for mere drones, and we speculate that the limited functionality of Grey physiology may be a result of genetic tampering.

Due to its the Greys’ telepathic ability, its society indeed behaves as an amazingly efficient hive mentality, only with much like a hive with amazing efficiency but a total lack of emotion. This efficiency is accentuated by their profound sense of logic; individual Grey call signs designations seem to be based on a binary sequence. As an example of their hierarchy and co-ordination hierarchical coordination, when confronted by a potential threats, or a fellow endangered Grey, an individual Greys will change behaviors rapidly to preserve itself or defend fellow Greys, either using its psionic abilities to mentally attack against nearby threats, or adopting a unified “fight or flight” response in conjunction with other Greys, with the original individual acting as where one individual assumes the role of a temporary controller or commander. Hence, these creatures are able to form, dissolve, and adapt command chains instantly. We still, however, believe there is group of permanent high-ranking Greys operating somewhere from bases here on Earth.

As part of the Alien threat, Greys usually? function as scouts and observers due to their intelligence, large capacity for science and technology, good efficient? communication network, and incredible ocular acuity. The similarities between the appearance of this life form and Greys to the descriptions given by victims of Alien abductions leads us to believe that the race in question is Greys are highly active in human experiments and experimental research into our the human genetic structure, and that we should be wary of any the results of their progress they might have made in into inductive genetic mutations and cloning technology technologies.

Operating mainly primarily? on lightly armed on smaller research vessels, they are usually well-armed and should be considered a reasonable threat to any operation.

“… unfortunately, Sgt. Thompson’s role in the assault mission was to provide a base of fire for troops advancing on a UFO crash site. The abandonment of his position led to a lack of suppression support which that probably likely? resulted in the above average casualties mentioned previously?. Thompson still refuses to discuss the incident, and given his alarming CAT-scan results from the medical team, he has been removed from active field duty.”

GREY

X-Net://Pegasus.net/Alien/Species/Grey

The Grey is a physically weak but highly intelligent lifeform. It is as vulnerable and susceptible to injury as humans are, if not more so, but their natural psionic abilities make their battle formations, like their society as a whole, incredibly effective.

The Greys are relatively easy to keep alive in containment due to their small size and minimal needs. Their small bodies require very little nutrition, which can be easily provided through a series of injections directly into their bloodstream. Their physiology seems to be well-suited for our planet, though they prefer moist, warmer climates. They are also almost completely harmless and passive when unarmed and separated from their chain of command and fellow Greys. Hence, they are not violent or dangerous captives, facilitating close examination and requiring little advanced containment equipment.

The Grey’s large eyes allow it to see well in the dark, but strangely, light reflects off their opaque corneas instead of their retinas like in nocturnal terrestrial life. Its sense of hearing is nonexistent; it can only feel loud sounds by their vibrations since it lacks appropriate hearing organs. This creature does not communicate by sound; we have recorded their sporadic screeching noises, but they seem to be of little consequence.

These Aliens have an extremely developed brain resulting in the oddly shaped cranium that is so characteristic of them.

We are now able to confirm that Greys communicate through a basic form of telepathy. Without advanced psionic amplification equipment, this is limited, much like oral communication, in terms of range and potency. Standard Grey communication seems to involve the exchange of concepts and ideas. However, the speed of indirect telepathic communication provides a quasi–hive mind setup, where each Grey acts as a node and transmits information to the next Grey in a psionic communication network of some sorts. On a more disconcerting note, personnel working in the vicinity of captive Greys have reported occasional impulses to assist the captive. While there have been no incidents so far, our researchers theorize that perhaps with training or external aids, these creatures might be able to exert mental control over other beings.

A study of these Alien creatures shows that they are startlingly ill-adapted to life. They are unable to digest even the simplest liquid foods, let alone solid aliments, and there are no signs of designated liquid or solid waste excretion systems, nor any signs of reproductive organs. The Greys are effectively unable to survive in the wilderness unsupported. Had our scientists not come up with the idea of using IV drips and dialysis machines, we would not have been capable of keeping captive Greys alive for extended periods of time. All of this suggests that either the Greys are a species of disposable drones or one whose survival is entirely dependent on technology in order to both ingest nutrients and perpetuate their race through artificial means. Given the evidence of the Greys’ highly organized hierarchy, we believe that the Grey society is too intricate for mere drones, and we speculate that the limited functionality of Grey physiology may be a result of genetic tampering.
