Almost four years in the works, and now nearing completion and an international release, CONTACT is a game any dedicated X-Commie might want to look at, as the premise of the setting is practically the same as in the first computer game.
The game itself is a deep and detailed tabletop role playing game centered around a set of proprietary game mechanics that do not allow only for suspenseful and challenging tactical combat, but also research & development, investigation, overlapping story arcs, as well as a satisfying amount of character development. We should mention that a considerable part of these mechanics have been inspired by classic titles such as Fallout, Jagged Alliance, and of course, XCOM itself.
Top that off with an abundant amount of high-quality artwork and background on an original game universe set in the year 2047, and you're all set.

Sound interesting?

We created a website with more information on the upcoming product at WWW.ContactRPG.com
Concepts and Artworks can be viewed here: Rob's DeviantArt profile and here: Anthony's DeviantArt profile

Drop us a line and let us know what you think! Just don't ask us about the exact release date, because... well, it's done when it's done :)

Can't wait to get my hands on it!!!! :D Very interesting indeed.

So, it's a D100 system. Any more information (except from the char sheets) that you could share? :D

Where (geographically, website etc) will you focus your promotion on?

Hey kafros,

We'll probably focus our hands-on promotion on Germany, as that's where I am living and working. But we have an international English version ready, so the game will (also, probably!) be distributed through various online PDF retailers.

As for the system itself, I can only say that if you liked how xcom worked under the hood, you will probably recognize and like a lot of how Contact works. Action points, reaction fire, stat boosting through exercise, etc, and definitely quite deadly and unforgiving without the right use of tactics. Another thing I'm particularly fond of is a damage system that distinguishes between different damage types. And tons of believable as well as fantastic science fiction weapons and gear. Naturally, actual "realism" isn't attainable in a tabletop role playing game while still keeping it fluid and playable, but we still think we will be the ones to up the bar a few notches when it comes out.

Watch the skies around Juli 2011 :)
