Ok, please tell me what you think, and if it sounds belivable.

Spawn Autopsy

At first, scientists couldn’t understand what drove this creature so fast and so deadly. Nany things contributed to this, its [alloy] skin and bones, the silicon based body and cybernetic hovering device, not to mention the deadly toxic that it injects into it’s victims to increase the alien army by an additional Spawn.

The Spawn autopsy that X-corps members have recovered during mission has proven to be very unique in terms of its physical body. Its bones have been ruthlessly replaced with an exoskeleton made out of [alien alloys], and even the skin has been covered with a fairly thick layer of said material. It is this tough coat that has made it a vicarious enemy to face in the wild.

Its new bones are highly flexible, an incredible feature when weighted. It is so heavy that, generally put, if you did the same with a human being (assuming it was technically possible), he would simply collapse under the sheer weight of the [alloys]. However, these problems don’t seem to affect the spawn at all, and has proven to be an effective and very fast fighter in combat.

The outer layer of [alloy] is very well made. The different parts of the shell fits perfectly over each other, and in the same time, allows the body to breathe. Scientists were very amazed, when they removed the plate and discovered that there was no real skin behind it. The strong metal is acting like a very sophisticated skin, and it does in no way hamper the Spawns body motion.

Another weird thing that confused scientists in the start of the experiments was that the part of the Spawn body that isn’t made of implanted [Alien Alloys] isn’t made of carbon: its Silicon based. It’s is much tougher then carbon, but a lot heavier. Scientists have theorized for quite some time that this was actually possible, but the Spawn is the first creature to have this implanted.

The combined weight of silicon and [alien alloys] should have brought down this beast a long time ago – or at least made it very slow. It also seems that it have actually been a slow killer once, before all the cybernetics have been inserted in the body. So why is this slow predator so quick? The answer is quite simple. The aliens knew that the Spawn is slow because it’s heavy. So what do they do? They mount a anti gravity device straight into its body to cut down its actual weight. And we have all seen the fruits of their labour: a fast killer that kills everything, everywhere.

But the properly weirdest and most chocking thing of the entire Spawn would be the claws. Not only are they razor sharp, but they also contain a highly deadly toxin that it injects into its victim. The toxin is made of a special slimy substance that contains a virus similar to the Earth HIV: A virus that takes control of the white blood-cells in the body, and actually destroys the bodies immune defence. But unlike HIV, it happens very fast. In just a few splits of a second, it has taken over the defences of the body, and the brain will go into a panic mode. In this trance of kamikaze, the victim will attack their friends, seeming as though they were mad. In such a state victims are, not surprisingly, nicknamed “Zombies”, for their characteristic dead look.

It is not the only effect of the toxin, however. Along with the virus, a special type of RNA is blasted into the body, and this will then control the RNA of the human victim. What this process does, is simply horrifying. Scientists haven’t been able to pinpoint the reason for this, but inside the human host a new Spawn will form. After very little time, during the Zombie stage, it will have grown to full size, and discard of the rest of the now dead victim. Shooting at the Zombie will not yield any good results either. It will bust open the Zombie, and the inside Spawn might not be fully grown, but it will be just as deadly. The only result of blasting the Spawn when it is in the Zombie mode is, that it will be fairly confused at first.

I wouldnt put that much burden over alien alloys... If they where engenieered it is ok, but I would go for a more organic explanation of the exoskeleton.

On a side note, maybe the fluff is a little too much (bordering on being aggresive).

Having read the text, I'd have to support the sentiment expressed here against the emphasis on alien alloys...

I think some ruthless scientist might actually concoct a plan of an 'Allien Alloy Farm', with hundreds of Spawn in little underlit rooms...

Spawn Autopsy

At first, scientists couldn’t understand what drove this creature so fast and so deadly. Many things contributed to this, its [alloy] skin and bones, the silicon based body and cybernetic hovering device, not to mention the deadly toxic that it injects into it’s victims to increase the Alien army by an additional Spawn.

It's a scientific report from X-Corps, so it's not "scientists", it is "our scientists" or "our Research Division". Also, I wouldn't make the skin made of alloys, and what is a cybernetic hovering device?

I don't like the word "drove" there, how about "made"?

The Spawn autopsy that X-corps members have recovered during mission has proven to be very unique in terms of its physical body. Its bones have been ruthlessly replaced with an exoskeleton made out of [alien alloys], and even the skin has been covered with a fairly thick layer of said material. It is this tough coat that has made it a vicarious enemy to face in the wild.

The X-Corps members don't recover the "Spawn autopsy", they recover the Spawn on which the autopsy was later performed, rephrase as it makes little sense, also, the Spawn which they recover isn't unique when it comes to the Spawn species, they are all alike, are unique compared to other Alien species.

The bones cannot be replaced by exoskeleton, the bones are internal, the exoskeleton is internal, a creature born with bones has absolutely all of its anatomy adapted to having bones, replacing them would be like making a whole other creature, instead of modifying one. Also, I don't like the bones being made of Alien Alloys, apart from the fact that it doesn't seem right, it'd mean that for every spawn you kill, you'd obtain Alien Alloys, which you don't.

Spawns are not often faced in the wild, they are faced in urban scenarios mostly.

Bones flexibles?, first of all, it is a contradiction with the previous paragraph, if the bones were replaced by an exoskeleton, it does not have bones. Also, I don't think flexible bones seem plausible, they would bend before the weight of the body and would not provide support for the organs, being them made of alloys or not. The comparation to what would happen to a Human does not seem scientific and/or proffessional, rephrase it. I don't like the Spawn to be called a "fighter", how about "terror weapon", or "enemy" or such?

The outer layer of [alloy] is very well made. The different parts of the shell fits perfectly over each other, and in the same time, allows the body to breathe. Scientists were very amazed, when they removed the plate and discovered that there was no real skin behind it. The strong metal is acting like a very sophisticated skin, and it does in no way hamper the Spawns body motion.

First sentence, it seems as if you were talking of a sculpture, "well made" does not seem right.

"Our scientists" instead of just "scientists". Our current Silabrate concept already mentions the creature being made of silicon, and puts it similar to you, that scientist had theorized if it was possible, I wouldn't have two creatures of silicon, and certainly not the Spawn, I imagine a silicon creature something more like the Silabrate. Also, if the creature is silicon based, it doesn't have it implanted, the creature is silicon based, it is made of silicon, period, it cannot be implanted.

The constant questions and how they are answered are completely non-scientific, reprase this paragraph to make it more like a report.

In the first sentence, saying that it should have brought down this beast a long time ago makes it seems as if the spawn you brought back was many years old, it makes that impression. I am absolutely against the anti gravity device inside the Spawn, it is completely out of place, sorry :).

This description of the toxin is not similar to the one made by Anthraxus, it is too different, check Anthraxus CT for reference. The toxin is not within the claws, it is injected through them.

According to Anthraxus' Spawn concept, the Spawn is always fully grown, and it is not confused at first, the RNA part is not right according to the Spawn concept.

“It was quite fun when we got to test this ‘zombie’ thing. We had quite a few idiots hanging around the lab thinking they were scientists, and neither of us real scientists will miss them.” ~ Chief of Science Department Jason Morseyear

Ditto Red Knight, this cannot go.

Please don't take it personally Mikker, but I don't think this sounds believable yet, it still needs a lot of work. Not bad for the first draft though, keep it up! :D

Spawn Autopsy

At first, our Autopsy Division couldn’t understand what made this creature so fast and so deadly. Many things contributed to this, its alloy coated bones, it’s metallic skin, not to mention the deadly bacteria that it injects into it’s victims to increase the Alien army by an additional Spawn.

The dead Spawn that X-corps members have recovered during mission, has proven that this specimen is very unique. Its bones have been strengthened by a special material, which we have been unable to determine. We have also been unable to determine if it’s natural, or an implantation. Any attempts to remove the layer on the bones have ended in failure, as it appear to have grown together with the bones themselves. When our department tried to force the coating off with high-powered tools, both bone and coating crumbled. The Autopsy Department has stopped trying to break free the coating.

Its skin is also covered in the same kind of coating, although this layer is thinner, and flexible. The different parts of the shell fits perfectly over each other, and in the same time, allows the body to breathe. Our scientists were very amazed, when they removed the plate and discovered that there was no real skin behind it. The strong metal is acting like a very sophisticated skin, and it does in no way hamper the Spawns body motion.

But the properly weirdest and most chocking thing of the entire Spawn would be the claws. Not only are they razor sharp, but they are also covered in a highly deadly bacteria coating that is injected into its victims wounds: In just a few splits of a second, it has taken over the defences of the body, and the brain appear to go into a panic mode. In this trance of kamikaze, the victim will attack their friends, seeming as though they were mad. In such a state victims are, not surprisingly, nicknamed “Zombies”, for their characteristic dead look.

It is not the only effect of the bacteria, however. It has been reported in the field, that the unfortunate victims in the “Zombie” state, will bust open after a while – resulting in a new hostile, battle-ready Spawn. However, as most of the bacteria dies when the Spawn itself dies, we have been unable to research further into this. It will require a live specimen for further investigation.

Maybe portray/speculate the "armored coating" for the bones ect. as more of a byproduct from bodily secretions of bacteria rather than introducing any foreign substance at all (metal). Otherwise you will probably need to explain the metal plating on the zombies ;)

Spawn Autopsy

Our Autopsy Division have completed the autopsy of the Spawn. The specimen got tough skin and bones due to a silicon coating, and it contain deadly bacteria that it injects into it’s victims to increase the Alien army by an additional Spawn.

The dead Spawn that X-corps members have recovered during mission, has proven that these specimen are very unique. Its bones have been strengthened by what seems to be a strong silicon coating, which cover all of the bones in the entire body. Due to the sheer weight of the alloys, the Spawns have grown enormous muscles to be able to control such weight. Any attempts to remove the silicon layer intact have resulted in failure, as it appear to have grown together with the bones themselves. When our department tried to force the silicon off with high-powered tools, both bone and coating crumbled. The merge between the silicon based coating and the carbon based bones, are the reason for this odd strength. And when The Autopsy Department broke the coating off, it weakened instantly. It is highly unlikely that the coating have been put

Its skin is also covered in the same kind of coating, although this layer is thinner, and more flexible. The different parts of the shell fit perfectly over each other, and are therefore unlikely to have been implanted. Our scientists were very amazed, when they removed the plating and discovered that there was no real skin behind it. This also contributes to the theory that the spawns are indeed born with silicon skin and bones, as stripping off the entire skin wouldn’t serve any purpose if silicon was to be implanted. The strong silicon shell is acting like a very sophisticated skin, and it does in no way hamper the Spawns body motion.

Most of the inner organs are surprisingly fragile, and puncture very easily. Heart, lungs, and the brain, however, are much more robust. The heart is very well developed, and appears to pump blood approximately 4 times faster then humans, which alone will result in amazing speed and manoeuvrability, as the brain will work better. The spawn have a huge almost swollen area of the brain, which appear to be the area of hand-to-eye coordination.

It is not the only effect of the bacteria, however. However, as most of the bacteria perish when the Spawn itself dies, we have been unable to research further into this field. It would require a live specimen if we were to intend further investigation.

“We have had to keep an eye on our Spawn bodies, lately. Apparently, some soldiers have been stealing the claws for use as throwing knives. thats pretty good, but a number of mistakes make me want to proof it. But yeah, not too bad of an entry. Keep up the good work =b

[edit] Oh yeah, i don't like the term "panic mode" It sounds more like a term programmers would give to soldiers when they panic.

Reading the CTD I spotted something you appeared to have missed in your proofing.

Paragraph 1, sentence 2.

"The specimen got tough skin and bones due to a silicon coating..."

Shouldn't this be "has"?

Just seemed wrong, and I couldn't reply on the topic, so here's a PM.

SPAWN AUTOPSY

X-Net://Pegasus.net/Alien/Autopsies/Spawn

A brief description of the autopsy's conclusion is that the body posseses tough skin and bones due to a silicon coating and contains deadly bacteria that are injected into its victims to inevitably increase the Alien army by an additional Spawn.

The dead Spawn that was salvaged has proven that this species is very unique. One of its aweing features is its strength and durability, direct consequences of its structure.

The creature's natural skin composes of a think, chitinous cell layer. Above it lies a natural, ablative hide mainly composed of silicon. This natural armor's ability to provide adequate protection despite its flexibility and small weight has puzzled us, and we are forced to speculate that it was gained through genetic mutation, making this creature a resistant warrior. A similar structure has been found on the creature's skeleton. At first it was thought that there a seperate silicon layer on the bones' surface, but further tests have shown that the silicon has fused with them, making segregation impossible without ruining both. This provides the creature with adequate protection against physical damage and the ability to withstand high temperatures. As a result of the enormous weight, the creature grows very strong muscles that provide booster physical power and stamina.

(kafros' comment: Maybe describe how bones+silicon or skin+hide are combined? Although it seems it may get too far that way, I guess we can always give it a try)

Even though most inner organs are surprisingly fragile, the heart, lungs, and brain, are much more robust. The heart is very well developed, and appears to pump blood approximately 4 times faster then humans, which alone will result in amazing speed and manoeuvrability, as the brain will work better. spawns have a huge almost swollen area of the brain, which appears to be the area of hand-to-eye coordination.

(kafros' comments:

* 4 times more than humans? I think it's too low, birds' hearts beat around 200-250 BPM in most pieces, sometimes even at 400BPM (cockatoo parrots). Oops, now that I think about it 4x60=240, meh... Leave it as-is then?

* Amazing speed and manoeuvrability [sic!!!], as the brain will work better.... Totally different things, this is a wrong statement. I won't work on it right now, but needs some major reworking)

The Spawn's most dreaded feature is its claws. They are razor sharp, so a successful hit will inevitably result into a deep wound that will cause severe blood loss. Alas, even if the unfortunate victim survives the blow, its fate is sealed due to deadly neurotoxin contamination. The creature injects the substance in the victim's blood stream, which spreads to the whole body in a matter of seconds. Once it reaches the brain, it induces feelings of extreme fear and panic, overwheling the victim and making it turn berzerk. This condition is impossible to treat in the battlefield, as it needs excessive and careful treatment in a clinical enviroment. Unfortunately, the victim is never given the chance to recover, due to the neurotoxin's ability to destroy most of the prey's cells and mutating the genetic material of the remaining and making it similar to the Spawn's. These cells' duplication rate is suprisingly high, thus the losses are replaced in a matter of minutes. This transformation inevitably incubates another creature inside the hosts body. During the transformation, the creature appearance changes, and its behaviour becomes even more violent. Due to these characteristics, the affected individuals are described as "zombies", from which a new Spawn will emerge at the end of the transformation process.

We speculate that this species is a genetically modified one. Its structure and physiology a biological massacre machine, and it is highly unlikely that the species naturally evovled to this state.

Most unfortunate, seems that I changed practically... everything, except from the part that I in purpose did not xD. Tried it keep it as consistent as possible with the Spawn CT. Unfortunately, both texts share some parts, especially the ones describing the neurotoxin. I'd like to change that.

I'm anxsiously waiting for your valuable comments :)

sounds great. give it a shot. But only if you have a fast and good idea. otherwise I think it's sufficient as it is.

Even though most inner organs are surprisingly fragile, the heart, lungs, and brain, are much more robust. The heart is very well developed, and appears to pump blood approximately 4 times faster then the corresponding organ in humans, which alone will result in amazing speed and manoeuvrability, as the brain will work better. nonono! please, guys, that's just wrong in so many ways. It's a completely different physiology, you can't just say it works better if it has more blood. maybe it needs more blood to work properly? same goes for the muscles above. the bones are more heavy, so it needs bigger muscles to compensate. That doesn't mean that it will be fater or stronger, since the bigger muscles are just needed for compensation of the heavier sceleton! spawns have a huge almost swollen if it is swollen it's pathologic. just keep huge. and again, compared to whom? compared to humans? what gives you the right to do so? it's a completely different organizm. So if you want to do comparisons, you should always do this in the following way: relative to feature x (e.g. weight of the bones) feature y is overexpressed (e.g. the muscles) area of the brain, which appears to be the area of hand-to-eye coordination.
