since many ppl say that xcom is harder than tftd (including me) and many ppl say that tftd is harder than xcom i decided to post a poll on it. so, which do you think is the hardest one?

Tftd is harder in my opinion, the ai seems beefed up, and those "mixed" crews that show up later mean you can't really know what to expect. Also, while I consider both mutons and lobstermen easy, mutons are the easiest by far. Lastly, Tasoths are way more powerful than etherials ever were.

sorry, but Etherals are much harder than Lobstermans or Tasoths. they MC all your soldiers in the blink of an eye thus i always had to retreat from terror sites with etherals. I'd compare Tasoths with Snakemen.

also, Chrysalid can be a real pain specially since they easily get in your Skyranger and start zombifying everyone, leading to a deadly battle inside the craft (usually leading to its loss). Tentaculats only show up on Artefact Sites / Colonies, never on terror sites.

There's a thread in XCOM2 General about it, but without poll. As soon as the forums are working like they should again I'll merge these.

For now, let me say I think TFTD is a lot harder than UFO. I can play UFO on superhuman and have a walk in the park compared to TFTD on superhuman  , especially without xcomutil, but even with that the weapons you start out with just plain suck compared to those you start with in UFO.

I think tftd is harder only in part because of beefed up aliens. The new maps are just so hard for me, I never seem to find that last little bugger. In ufo, there were only a few farmhouses, but in tftd, there are all sorts of obstructions for you to miss an alien in.

Ufo defense with xcomutil (fixed difficulty levels) is WAY harder than tftd. Both games have the same problem, theres nothing to play after you have researched mc disruptor/psi-amp

Tftd:

Sonic tank (don't remember the name, but that "old train" looking hover tank) 2 guys with drills, 4 guys with mc disruptor.

Tank scouts, mc people mc everybody that tank sees, and also everybody those mc:d aliens see, then you walk them near drill men and drill them.

Ufo defense:

Hovertankplasma, 2 guys with heavyplasmas, 4 guys with psi-amp.

Same tactic..

BUT!

In ufo defense it's way harder to get psi-amp IMO. And that hovertank plasma rarely handles more than one heavyplasma shot. Sonic tank in tftd can handle plenty of sonic cannon shots before it's destroyed.

Sum up, Ufo defense is harder 'cause it really is possible to lose your tank sometimes if you have bad luck.. And it's hard to get psi-amp to research.

EDIT:

Of course in ufo defense gettin' psi-amp is only hard if you are NOT a pu55y loader. If you don't play fair and load all the time, it's easy too..

  • 3 months later...

x-com ( or ufo-eu for the european market ).

Getting a deep one is easy and makes sure u can filter psy units getting an etherial on the other hand is next to impossible. For the rest it is not that much a difference lobstermen are nice but not that hard, tashots are also not that difficult once u can displose of your weak psi(MC) units they cant take over or even panick your troops.

The only problem is getting better armor but even the best armor is useless when they take over your troops while using good cover and tactics can compensate for the lack of armor.
