Would You Like To - Stop Saying That?

Recommended Posts

I don't think that I should have to read Would you like to know more? on the end of _every single damn news item_ on the homepage.

I would much prefer it to just have a link that says "[more]" or something like that.

Starship Troopers flashbacks. I don't see the point in starting a whole thread just for complaining about a single sentence that is of little consequence to the news. Are there any constructive comments you wish to make?

Did you want me to complain about a few other things as well so that I can justify a thread?

I thought I was giving a constructive comment; a small trivial one, but constructive. I really do think that the website would be better if it were changed as I suggested - that was the meaning of my comment.

You may complain if there is a real reason to do so, a single sentence can not possibly be of such importance that justifies you opening a thread just to complain. Saying that you don't like it is hardly constructive. Your comment is noted, however.

Ok. Cool.

In future, if I'm not meant to make a thread for this kind of thing, where might I say what I think? I mean, I know it's not really a big deal, but even a small improvement is an improvement; and I think it's important that these sort of things have somewhere where they can be heard.

Actually, I kind of agree with karadoc; I feel it's pretty tacky even though I can see the reference, but in the end, it's just a minor annoyance. Then again, if the original post had been phrased a bit more politely, it might have been better received? In any case, it's too trivial to be worth arguing over.

On another note, I can't really see where else this should have been posted; it does relate in a small way to Xenocide, and the Cafeteria description does say, "Less serious stuff about Xenocide"... No big deal, though.

I didn't mean to sound rude, I just wanted to get to the point; but yes, it certainly was a bit terse. Maybe next time I'll try to be a bit more diplomatic.

As to my choice of forum, I'll tell you my line of thought.

Maybe there is a forum description or something that might benefit from a change...

From the root directory I go the the Xenocide HQ, naturally. It says 'Project Xenocide Website', so it's pretty clear to me that this is the one I want.

I then click on 'The Lobby', which has the following description:

"Here you'll find forums to give feedback on Xenocide's website, the recruitment center, lost & found, and much more.."

Again, this sounds like it is definitely the place that I am looking for; because I want to 'give feedback on Xenocide's website'.

From that point it was a lot less clear. There didn't seem to be any forum that really suited what I was after, so I just choose what I thought sounded the closest. Since the description before then matched exactly with what I was looking for, I didn't even think to look somewhere else.

Karadocs actions were acceptable in terms of:

1 ) that he made a post about it. Short of saying nothing at all what else can he do. He obviously felt strongly enough about to make a post, so it can beconsidered important.

2 ) where he posted was also correct this forum IS for feedback regard the Xenocide website

What he might have done differently was choice of language. How things were setup was a result of someones work, time, etc. The way the complaint was worded could have made the creator of the website feel belittled. Whereas at other web forum sites, bickering and sarcasm are the norm we have largely gotten rid of that here, so when a post is worded as such people can take it personally whereas given the context at other websites people there may understand that the poster was being humorous.

So you didnt do wrong but be more diplomatic next time, okay.
