Well, now we have some music in the game, which was kindly contributed by dickie.

It is already included into the latest win32 installer of ufo2000 available from ufo2000 home page.

Maybe clean reinstall will be required as the previous versions were configured to use original x-com music and the installer does not overwrite configuration files when performing upgrade. If you don't want reinstalling the game, you can simply delete 'ufo2000.ini' file after upgrading and new music settings will take effect.

It is only the first revision of music, so your opinion is important for us to chose which soundtracks are good, which still need more work or should be replaced. Feedback from Xenocide sound department would be also appreciated.

i can't hear the music...

at all...

Well, it should work

Can you provide more details?

Did you check volume settings, maybe it is just too quiet?

Did you install the game over the previous version of ufo2000 or made a fresh install?

Can you look into your ufo2000.ini file and check music related configuration (the strings should point to some OGG files in 'newmusic' subdirectory)

Well, you can always listen to the new music using any media player, but listening to it in the game is surely preferable as you can check if it fits the game or not.

EDIT:

Here is a link to the original post by dickie in the ufo2000 mailing list archives (with a link to zip archive with all the soundtracks): http://lxnt.info/pipermail/ufo2000/2004-April/001082.html

i've got it now. It was problems with my soundcard.

I think they are all just as good. I have no favorite (unless you add Atex' battlescape music, then i have a favorite!)

Ok I have heard all the music, the lobby music I do not mind, but the battle music I do.

It should be something like GMLOSE from the orignal xcom music files, it was a good try but its just to short and not as good as the orignal xcom music. ( I can understand it being hard to make music better then the orignal because it rocks so much)

I don't have a problem with a battlescape music. I'm too busy trying to find somebody to fight to really care...

Just login to the server more often and if nobody is online don't disconnect but wait for at least 10-15 minutes. I noticed that some people connect to the server, see that nobody is there and immediately go offline. If everybody behaves the same, there is little chance tor the players to find each other :)

As for the server chat music, I think it fits the X-Com style perfectly.

It is my favourite too

Who's behind the new music, anyway?
