Today I saw, for the first time in a few years I've been playing Apocalypse, something that really puzzled me.

An UFO was hovering above a building (one of my bases, actually) and, instead of firing and/or beaming down aliens with its standard white pipe, it was dropping some sort of blue rain over it; blue little things were falling from the UFO on the building.

Whatever it was doing, it finished doing it before I could reach it and open fire on it, and went away; only for a while, of course, because then my fleet arrived and there was no UFO anymore, not flying anyway

After recovering it, I let some times pass, but nothing happened, and no sirens yelled.

What the heck was that UFO doing?!?

They are converting the building with mind controling virus.
I dunno what it does though... anyone?

It gives a random chance that the orginasation who owns the building becomes 100% infiltrated xD!
Its really just there to give you a good reason to shoot down ships [:
I used to not do ships at all and just do the missions. Ahaha

The Ai in the game is actually just fairly random, ahah. xD
they arent a tactical race of aliens, just a dart board map throwing civilization. =D

so what Im basically saying is, Yes. They really Are that stupid

That's an incredibly good analogy! Dartboard throwing civilization.

What's even worse, not only do they do this against your buildings, they will even attempt to this against companies that are already 100% infiltrated. Utter lunacy.

Mind you, this is good for theri Overspawn drops, as this will recover the companies that you can no longer bribe and get them back on your side. Even the Cult, if you're really lucky. I'm told it works with infiltrated orgs too.

I think in your case, since you like to let companies get infiltrated, the odds of a successful test are quite high.

In fact, has anyone tested extreme levels of infiltration before? That is to say, see how far they can keep playing while letting as many companies get taken over as you can (while maintaingin a positive weekly score). Would be a fun thing to try out once you've hit self sufficiency and can build your own ships and troop weapons.

I've started wondering what the effects of an alien drop would have if it were to be put right in the middle of a huge block of 100% infiltrated buildings.

Sorry for ressurecting a dead topic but I'm looking to see if anyone has a picture of an UFO dropping blue rain. I want to put a picture of that sort of attack on the wiki but I've been playing for hours without any luck.
