Grgforce
If everyone doesn't know, X-COM Apocalypse allowed you to put soldiers in tactical and psi training to offer other means of improving those skills insted of only in combat. I thought the idea could be further developed. My idea is to have sniper, urban, leadership, medical, tactical, and psi training. Sniper training could allow the soldier to fire sniper weapons further and improve accuracy. Urban training could allow soldiers to gain bonus time units and decrease the time units needed to fire their weapons when in urban settings. Leadership would be a new skill. The more the leadership a soldier has, the better that soldier would be able to rally (improve morale) his/her troops when the highest ranking soldier is killed and places that person next in command. Rallying in combat would require time units. Leadership training would improve the leadership skill. Medical would be a new skill. The more the medical a soldier has, the better that soldier would be able to use medical devices. Medical training would improve that skill. Tactical and psi training would be the same as in X-COM Apocalypse. If anyone thinks my idea is great, has suggestions, or thinks my idea is idiotic, please let me know. mikker
I have never got really into apocalypse, but when i played it, it had so many things to do, so I where unable to play it. Training in Xeno would be a good thing, but i surely doubt leadership training. If you were a soldier, would you go crazy when the commander is killed, or stay calm, because some sargeant tells you to? I will go with the first one. What does tactical training? MorningLord
I like the idea of more detailed training. I don't know about leadership training though, You have it or you don't, IMHO. I think it should be raised through experience though... going into battle with X number of people under you, blah, blah, blah. If this is the case though, we should be able to pick who we promote. Leaders don't have to be the best gunslingers, they have to be effective leaders.
sir_schwick
I do agree that leadership training is very important. There is a reason that you have to go to OCS to be an officer.
MorningLord
I'm not even going to get into that. Are we talking about the ability to make the right decisions or the ability to get others to follow your decisions whether they are good or bad? Most things get done because they need to get done, whether your boss is an idiot or a great guy. Let's call it charisma then, the ability to get people to do what you want, whether they want to or not. I can see training at a unit level, increasing unit cohesiveness. The longer a group of people works together the better they will perform. Then when a rookie comes in, or you transfer your new Captain over to take command of a new squad there should be an adjusmtent period while everone gets used to each other. Along those lines, an avenger holds what 26 people? So we are talking about either a Section or a Platoon, so you may or may not even have an officer. And on a Skyranger just forget about it. GARAK
There is enough to do in the game already without adding training schools. Besides, that would take up precious room in the base.
