LOL, when you showed up, were they circled around the civ kicking him for sport? "We used HOW MUCH elerium to get out here??? For 1 stinking civ?!? :crying: "

Pretty funny!

0 elerium, it was with the skyranger :)

I meant that's what the aliens are saying. They wasted a big trip to go terrorize humanity by killing 1 guy in the park, probably wouldn't make the evening news...

Are you kidding, they probably killed the resident bum :)

What was it, like, 3 turns?

It was 8 turns.. That's why I lost only one soldier. Could have been even faster but I wanted to keep the losses in minimum. (Almost no cover at all! :o )

Well anyways after this mission they showed me what they are made of.. Second terror site, sectoids at night :( Fast mission too but I was the one who got my "rear" kicked.. I was planning to take those two stunned men in backpack and take them to skyranger but sectoids didn't agree and MC'd one of my guys from skyranger so I had to leave them and quit as soon as possible.

:crying:

Actually the civ started in that only house and inside that same house was one alien too! And two aliens were patrolling in each side of the house and two of them were in front of the only door to the building so I guess they took this one civ pretty seriously :D Maybe he was some CIA chief or Rambo himself or something who just needed to be killed

  • 2 months later...

They can be armed with weapons. Alas, there's one major problem.

Civilian AI has it so that they will not actively shoot at anything, however, they will use reaction fire on X-Com units and aliens alike. Makes them out to be a real bundle of nerves, wouldn't you say? ;)

So how do you give them weapons? By mind controlling them? In collectors edition the old bug which gave you the chance to give weapons to civs and aliens is fixed. You can't find that mind controlled alien/civ by clicking arrows from inventory window.

Really? I thought they only fixed that in TFTD, but not UFO? Oh well, no matter.

Well, at present, there's nothing that can be done in-game. (so there's not that much point, really)

I have two methods, but they require manual hex editing (well, in my case, I just use MS-Edit). Creating my own editor is still way beyond my abilities just yet.

The first method is to manually add (or reassign) a weapon into the object table, assign it to a civilian and put it in the civilian's hands. Then manually create a few extra clips to go with it unless it's a laser.

The second method is the easiest, but dumbest, and completely ignores the very limited item table (which can only hold 170 items at any given time). Install a HWP/Terror unit cannon onto them. (yes, it's possible)

Perhaps XComutil might have something about arming civilians?

edit: Just checked, using the scroll buttons to enter a mind controlled unit's inventory still exists in the CE(UFO only, of course). However, arming civilians this way would only result in renegade civilians (or civilians that are counted as 'aliens' and will be under alien AI control).
