kafros
UFO: Trilogy I bought it some days ago, all 3 games already patched. It is a very nice and cheap product (30 euro IIRC).At last, I've played aftershock and afterlight . I think I still prefer Aftermath, keeps that "retro" feeling. Aftershock breaks the fourth wall, I didn't really like it much. Afterlight is the most advanced (gameplay-wise) of the three, and it is most interesting if you've played the previous two (I started with Afterlight and at first I didn't really understand the whole Laputa business, yesterday I played my first game of Aftershock and all is clear) Dammit, the first time I played Aftermath I stopped playing at the last room with the "octopus"-transgeants, 2 minutes before finishing the game -.- Was a bit hard actually, I had gatling guns and 2-barrel machineguns + improved heavy armor for my guys + spare ammo and all ammo was depleted before finishing the aliens, there were 2 transgeants and 1 reticulan left, so I went back, got the warp/laser weapons of fallen reticulans and finished the mission (hopefully one guy had a launcher so I could destroy the biomass liquid "biomachinery"). Interesting Question: The interception screens were removed from the final product? I've also seen some interesting video in the DVD's bonus material which I've never seen in-game (or even mentioned in any site). A pity really Edited December 15, 2007 by kafros
Slaughter
Aftermath is the most appealing setting-wise, that's for sure. Aftershock was very important in that they built up a heap of new features (customize weapons, drones etc.), but was very unfinished (there's a mod restoring one of the cut monsters here). Afterlight polished many of those features, and is a better game in many areas. Still, in all games I believe quite a bit of content was cut due to deadlines etc. As for mods, you should check out our files section. Aftermath's Combo-Mod, Aftershock's Rebalance Modification and Afterlight's Total Rebalance modification (as well as Advanced Missions and Martian Assault). kafros
Wonderful comment Slaughter, thanks! Yep I noticed what you said, Aftermath indeed keeps the X-Com feeling, it's atmosphere is wonferful :OAftershock has a load of new features, but I'd love to see some of them more... "furnished" (if that's the word)Afterlight is also nice, although a bit repetitive :/ I'll also try the mods, at first I googled for new patches (no luck latest version everywhere ) and official mods (no luck ), and I only found a few unofficial ones. In addition, I've found a lot of Combo-Mod versions, which one is the latest/best? :O
Guest Azrael Strife
Afterlight repetitive? if you're calling AL repetitive then obviously you haven't played AS enough after you play that one (thoroughly) you cannot really call any other game repetitive
