Hi. I downloaded the D2D version (I believe the XCOM version is 1.2 according to the game dir readme) running on DOSbox. For some reason, the editor can't find the saved game files. I use the select location button and tried every directory in the game folder but to no avail. What am I missing? In the root directory it gives me a list of empty slots that I can't select, but I do have two saved games (slots one and two). Any ideas?

The version of the hack is v3. I tried the v3.1 but it gives the following error when I try to select the directory:

*EDIT* The error below is from the installer version. The version of the hack that gives me the empty saved slots is also 3.1, but it's the executable.

See the end of this message for details on invoking

just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

application or computer (machine.config) must have the

jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.

The application must also be compiled with debugging

enabled.

For example:

<configuration>

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception

will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer

rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Hmmm... are you sure you have the most recent version of .Net? It looks like the program cannot resolve the directory, is it in a temporary folder or anything? it should really still work, but I want to make sure these are not causing the issues.

So, I had someone email me with a similar issue. I think the issue is that the installer of XCOM puts the files in a hidden area, so when you try to point the editor to the files, they "don't exist". The easiest way to resolve this, is to make all of your hidden files visible, which you can do in Windows 7 by following these steps:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial151.html

Then, search for base.dat and that should point you to a saved game directory (GAME_1, or GAME_2, etc)... point the editor to the directory above this directory, and you should be good to go. Hopefully that helps.
