Carrier: A large ship with light arms but can launch interceptors at human craft

Interceptor: A small, fast ship, launched from bases to shoot down nearby human craft and to bomb human facilities. They can patrol terror sites to discourage skyrangers. They can also hunt down and destroy human ships if detected

Please say what you think about them.

How about it is the size of a dreadnought, but with alot more technicians and alien pilots. The inteceptors are small: 2 aliens, medium: 3 aliens, and heavy: 4 aliens

How about a smaller, weak UFO that the bigger ones can launch when they are being intercepted? The smaller ones will attack the X-com ((interceptor)) and give the bigger one and easier target or an easy way to escape?
I think it would seem to be a realistic idea (if you had the smaller UFOs) to escape

We probably want a wider variety of researchable UFOs for x-corps usage. The suicide ufos might work, but they have to be fast, and they have to be just weak enough so that they can only hit you if you miss at least twice wtih decent weapons. That way your best craft almost never get hit and virtually killed by those. Repair times always take forever.

I think its a good idea to have some form of UFO harrasing the crash/terror/landing sites. This would be a good reason to launch [skyranger] and [interceptor] to the ufo (so the harrasers do not get there in time to attack the [skyranger]), and also makes the weapon on the [firestorm] useful

For anyone still paying attention to this thread...

What if you had small ufos acting as an escort? On the geoscope large venerable ships (ie. terror ships, supply ships) could have one or two small/medium scouts flying close by to it. If any human ship came too close they would automatically move to intercept it.

The combat would work out exactly as normal except the enemy ufo would immediately close in on the human interceptor as though the human player had selected "aggressive attack" and the human player has no other choice but to see who is destroyed first in the dog fight.

What do you think?

I hope people are still talken about this. This has the makings to be really cool. I was thinking small interceptor alien craft is good. But what about a battle ship with an escape craft? All the commanders navigators and squad leaders go on the escape craft, and the rest of the goons go down with the ship, that way you have one more thing to chase.

Exactly what Im thinken of, It would make intercept missions a lot more interesting. Like Sometimes maybe they arnt able to escape and you get the small still inside the battleship ya know it only happens if you shoot it down really really fast with some heavy firepower. Or it could get away and be goin hella fast so you can only catch it with an upgraded craft.

And make small ufo's easier to destroy. Send skyrangers to 3-4 crashed ufos to kill only 2-4 aliens in each one will be boring. At least late in the game.

 

-The bombardiers could go in terror missions, attacking very important cities on x-com allied countries and alerting the player. -And bombard x-com bases, damaging facilities and delaying researchs and manufactures.

-Do not pause the geoscape to intercept, but make the time really slow and queue events.

-Engineers assigned to X-Com ships should fix the ships faster.

-By researching the ufo invisibility x-com, you can have invisible ships, and see invisible ufos.

-Make smaller versions of the Battleship to early-game fun (destroyers).

-Fix the suplly ship raid when it's landed on an alien base.

-Show invisble ufo action (you have a base on australia, but the aliens still active on africa).

-Add a pause button on the geoscape menu.

-More countries!

-Real ambientance (pre-built maps for the big cities around the world)

-More city names show in map with zoom.

-Not every country starts with the x-com project, some starts neutral, but still can be attacked by aliens.

-Rumors and nations accusing each other.

-Sorry my bad spelling.

 

Some Random ideas. Don't give up the game, please.
