Oldblue153
After literally 100's upon 100's of missions ( more like 1,000s) I've yet to find a ships hull that can be breached with an Alien Gernade EXCEPT for a Large Supply Ship. The Secret Square is on the Bottom Left side of the ship either 7 or 8 tiles from the edge Gernade X| 7 | 6 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2 ___ | 1 | | \_____/ \_____/ This Blows a hole in the hull and for added convenience you enter into one of the small rooms with a door down there. Anyone found any more "Secret Squares" that are vulnerable to Alien Gernades?
Hyper_Barret
Yes, I had this same problem. I saw a thread which described how to breach USO hulls with alien grenades on the corner. Well I tried - I threw like 7 in one corner and it didn't work. Anyway a few months back I was doing a mission and there was an explosion which pierced the corner. I then tried again and found - as you say - there is one square which is literally right on the corner, almost in the ship, where you have to throw. I know for a fact it works on medium ships, and I'm pretty sure it works on smaller ones as well.
Pherdnut
IIRC, the Dreadnoughts have angled walls on the lower level that can be destroyed with pulsers. I think they're the ones that are closest to the center
xalien
I just throw them next to any flat hull section (like the side of supply ship) and it works fine. Sometimes I need more than one, maybe it gets low damage roll insufficient to break through the hull. Edit: ok, I only tried this with supply ships and battleships, don't know how it works with others. Edited April 13, 2006 by xalien
testarossa
It can be done on medium USO's as well, can't remember which one but you can tell from the screenshot which one it is. It will do the job even if the explosion is not right on the corner.

I sometimes find that my agents literally can spot aliens right through the wall on those corners, and even shoot them sometimes. Is that common? [NKF]
Does anyone find that the corner pieces can be "seen through" by your agents? I sometimes find that my agents literally can spot aliens right through the wall on those corners, and even shoot them sometimes. Is that common? You'd be amazed at how many line-of-site glitches TFTD has. And UFO for that matter, but they're not as obvious as TFTD's. TFTD doesn't really do anything different, the maps are just built sloppier. Some of my most hated line of sight errors includes landing the Triton at a port terror site with a few of the tall iron towers around it. If there's an alien on the upper landing, if it's set up right, it can fire right through the upper left corner of the Triton, right through the roof. Also watch out for the island resort missions. In the main building, the stairs on one of the upper levels has a room just behind it. If an alien stands on the landing of the stairs, you will not be able to see it. However if you were to go into the closet and look towards the stairs, the alien will appear. I cannot explain this unusual phenomena. Or the first step into the freezer of one of the pleasure cruise ship missions. Also, a lot of the corner walls that you see in UFO and TFTD are psuedo-walls. Well, they're walls. Just not 'wall' walls. Um. That I mean that they're not as solid as some walls. It's easy to spot them. Normal walls will hug the edge of a tile, but won't stop you from standing in it. The other type will not let you stand in the same tile as it. You can throw items and fire rockets into these walls. If it's an area-effect weapon and the detonation occurs in the same tile as the wall, the blast will extend on both sides of the wall. I'm definitely going to use that. Thanks, NKF.
