so the game used to crash and exit back to the desktop whenever i'd try to make a base in the beginning of the game. So followed the directions: patch the folder and unzip the PMODE into the folder as well.
I followed the directions in the FAQ doing all the commands in the DOS prompt.(Be sure to do the commands inside the directory of the x-com files). Once you changed all the commands, change the name of the PMODEW.exe file to DOS4GW.exe (Be sure to make a copy of both files first, put the backup files in a safe place)
Now run newxcom.bat and everything should be gravy... cept this isn't compatible with mo'slo and I don't like "turbo" that much.
I've only tried this on XP, so I'm not sure about NT or 2000.

mmm actually it doesn't work... It still crashes when i get off the skyranger in the first mission. I want to be able to start my own game without loading someone elses file. I was wondering if there is a real FIX for this problem
