I Have A Problem, To Install.

when i try to install APOC , he say me the "buffer error", but another error he say:

 

in the cd-rom speed he want a 450 bs, but the game cant detect a run speed.

 

 

i have a dvd-rom and a dvd-mast.

 

same problem.

regarding the buffer error

Files/Buffers Error    Remember, Apoc was made for old DOS and it requires a few things that most DOS machines already had running, including the right numbers of buffers and files that a program could manipulate at once. From the start menu, run sysedit.exe A lot of little windows will appear in the sysedit window. Find the one called config.sys Go to the bottom of the file (or the top if it is empty) and enter these commands, on seperate lines:  buffers=20  files=20  Save the file, exit the program, and restart your machine. Theoretically, this should fix the problem.

Try again after doing that.

I'd recommend using files and buffers of 40 just to be on the safe side. New computers can handle it.

 

As for the cd-rom speed: New cd-roms and dvd-roms are so fast that the install software cannot accurately time the speed properly. I'd recommend ignoring this error and continue to install the game. It shouldn't stop you from doing this, except perhaps if you didn't set 'files' to something.

but the bad, thing is:

 

i install the game, but in the main screen (the INSTALL PLAY EXIT button); the play button isnt clikkable, only exit and install, but i have installed the game!

I think I had that too, just go to the directory you installed xcom3 to with windows explorer, and double-click XCOMAPOC.exe, or whatever it's called.

he run, but stop on a black screen and when i press enter, return on the desktop.

 

i try to manage the file buffer; but i cant handle it...

 

what i tipe in the confing.sys?

or

files=20

 

but no one of this solution give the agonate 20/20 buffer...

Feel free to ask if you don't understand something.

 

Regarding the files/buffers error, Once xcom3 is installed I don't think you have to worry about it anymore.

But, if you are using winXP config.sys is apparently replaced by config.nt in your windows/system32 folder, if you have xp, try altering that one, it might work.

DAMN ISNT WORKING!!!

 

 

i have installed the mouse driver, the vdmsound, the crack (also with a original game it dont start) create the batch file and his shortcut.

 

but no 1 appened.

 

same crash.

I also have this problem! But even i editing config, game installer tell me that i still have 40/0! (but I set it for 60 both!) What can i do to play this game?!!! HELPPPPPPPPPP ! I want play it!

I'm the same. Running an Athlon 3000, Win2k. Tried editing config.sys but the installer still tells me I have 40/0
