I realise this forum is probably dead and the editor almost certainly no longe rbeing updated, but:
I notice there's no way to edit the cost of weapons/tanks/magazines/etc in the editor. Any chance of this changing in the future? Failing that, is it known where in the game's files this information is stored?
I ask because I'm interested in going back and re-balancing the game's weapons so that each of them are actually useful. The easiest way to do that that I know of is to balance them as raw effectiveness per dollar cost. I can change the raw effectiveness, but so far not the cost.

Yes, those values can be found in in the game file called PURCHASE.DAT. And while you are at the X-COM wiki, do take a browse around the Game Files page - you are bound to find some of that helpful.I notice there's no way to edit the cost of weapons/tanks/magazines/etc in the editor. Zombie: Empirical data's your only man, when formulating a research plan.
A soldier's death is never in vain if it makes the formula more plain.
A few dozen make a better case for refining that third decimal place.
They call me Zombie because I don't sleep, as I slowly struggle to climb this heap,
of corpses, data points, and trials, but from the top - I'll see for miles!

So purchase costs are a per-savegame thing? That's intersting. I wonder where the defaults are stored...

ROFLHow ironic: SoulSkorpion starts out with "I realise this forum is probably dead"
and he is answered by a Zombie.
