Where Did You Get X-com 1 From?

I got my first copy from a friend at school (he handed it to me over lunch) in the fall of 1995. But he didn't give me a copy of the passcodes to start the game. I had to call him on the phone everytime it asked for a new page number, until I had collected all the page numbers :D

Oh, then I bought several copies several years later.

When I bought my first PC, it was an used 386 and the game was on the harddisc. Strangely it never asked any codes :huh?: I accidently found it and tried it and fell in love.

Years later I bought a new PC (after 2 macintoshes) P120 and I noticed there had come TFTD and bought it too. Played it through and desided to buy X-com Enemy Unknown. I bought it used diskette DOS version and had no problems playing i with my P120. Then I bought Apocalypse next.

My current version is downloaded from the net, (I think I have a right since I have the original too) just because that disk version doesn't work anymore. Corrupted or something. :pink:

I got mine when I was around ten. (That would be around '96-'97 roughly.) I was checking the computer game section of buck a book and I noticed something called X-COM with a classic games logo. The ship on the cover looked cool, so I 'persuaded' my mom to buy it for me. From then on I fell in love with it. (It was the DOS version on a CD.) I used to play it all the time on my old 486. The fear of chryssalids kept me up on countless nights.

Then, when TFTD came out, I tried to convince my parents to buy it, but to no avail. Years later, when Apoc came out, I asked for apoc for my birthday, and while shopping for it, I noticed TFTD... in the bargain bin! Two Xcoms in one day! Woo Hoo! :)

Then I kind of lost touch with new Xcom releases (Interceptor on.) Until I saw interceptor in the bargain bin for only fifteen dollars. Plus, the strategy guide was only one dollar! :)

Enforcer was the last Xcom game I bought. I got it from the bargain bin for only fifty cents.

Nowadays, I play Xcom 1 CE that I got off of the CGW 200th anniversary edition CD (Although my dos cd still works, if I can find a comp that will run it). I play the TFTD CE that I got from this site, a long time ago. (Once again, my Dos cd still works), and I play the apoc that I got for my birthday. :)

I got mine from an illegal russian cd full of games... When I first played xcom1 it was long gone from the stores. The first xcom I played was TFTD and I was really curious about what it's predecessor would be like. So when a couple of years later I saw it on that cd... Much later when Collectors edition came out I bought that immediately. I started playing apoc. It was a fun game but I found the graphics hideous. The resolution was better but everything looked so ugly! I thought something was wrong with my graphic card first :o Xcom 4 was a big dissapointment and so was email xcom. It thought it was going to be like xcom 1 or 2 but it was like.... ????

Bought it from Best Buy in 1995 after a friend showed it to me.

  • 2 weeks later...

I played Ufo: Terror from the Deep in a psychiatric institution for youth on my next door neighbour's PC in the 1995 or so. I sneaked thru our mutual shower room late at night and played with the neighbour's permisson for many hours and many nights as the neighbour was sleeping

If remember correctly, I copied a pirate version of Ufo: Unknown Enemy for Amiga500 from my friend and played it in the first and the second half of the 90'ties. My Amiga500 had too little memory, so the game run very slowly and the colours in the tactical combat where down to about 4 and the combat was all in green colour. It was fun anyway. I don't copy games illegally anymore.

My parents bought it as soon as it came out and played for a looooong time, they figured out how to get to work on ANY computer, even TFTD they loved (well, my dad loved TFTD) and ythen they bbought Apocalypse, my mom (Erinn as some have read) hated it but my dad went through and beat it in 2 weeks. I just inherited all the games except for apoc wich decided to stop working on my dad's comp as soon as he let me play it :crying: but I got to play a little bit of it once which I enjoyed while I copuld :) that is my story, good night
