Hello

First, I would like to congratulate all the Xenocide team, you're making an great job !!

I have two errors that pops when I try to start Xenocide

First

This application has failed to start because OgreMain.dll was not found. Re-installing the applicaiton may fix this problem.

Second

XENOCIDE EXCEPTION

FILE: \xenocide\xenocide\src\launcher\launcher.cpp

LINE: 107

SOURCE: WinMain

REASON: Unable to load application module: c:\Program Files\XenocideProgressRelease399\system\system\xenoui.dll

Can you help me please ?

Thanks

This looks weird. How do you run it? Using the shortcut from startmenu or just by double-clicking on c:\Program Files\XenocideProgressRelease399\xenocide.exe? Somehow it looks as if your working directory is still c:\Program Files\XenocideProgressRelease399\system....

Update, I just checked: the shortcut is wrong. Either start xenocide using the exe file directly or edit the startmenu entry and remove the "/system" at the end of the working directory.

Can you post all files ending in ".log" you have in the XenocideProgressRelease399\system as well as your system specs (especially graphics card and driver version) and your directx version (should be 9.0c).

Hi,

for those who get an error about being unable to find OgreMain.dll or to load xenoui.dll:

The startmenu shortcut created by the installer is not right. Either start xenocide by clicking on the exe-file in the explorer or edit the shortcut and remove the "/system" at then end of the working directory.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope you enjoy the progress release anyway.

not really, it have worked with every single game i've used. I have had a few problems in the past, but they have been sorted out. (exept that the bass doesn't work)

I got a surround sound setup (5 speakers + bass).

Rincewind:

Do you know how to force windows to change prioryty of .dll files ???

That's whats called dll-heck :-)

Edit: Grrrr, stupid form doesn't let me spell the nice place where the devil lives, so replace heck with the right word...

From what my Visual Studio documentation says, it should first search in the current directory, but it appears its not doing that. So best bet for those cases with old fmod.dll would be to search for fmod.dll on the harddrive and to replace it with the one from xenocide...

hmmm...it won't screw up any other programs, will it?

Just make a backup copy of the other fmod.dll, then you can test it, you can also try to copy fmod.dll from /system to . Might already be enough for the exe to find the right one.

After pressing OK, i got again exception message mentioned before.

Mhhhh that is strange, sounds like a runtime link error. Maybe a problem with Windows Server 2003 SP 1??? Anyone with that operating system to check it?

Hello again. I just checked it on my second pc athlon2200/512/gf4mx440 with xp pro mce2005. The same as on server2003. What i did? My steps were :

1. I ran installer,

2. Changed working dir in shortcut.

What should i try next? :Brickwall:

Hey, I get this error when trying to run Build 399

This application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found.  Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

I install it ok but when I close the installation window, it does not start right away as the first menu said, and if I try to run I get that message.

edit: here are my system stats:

AMD ATHLON 1200 MHZ

256 DDR RAM

Windows XP Professional

nVidia gForce5200 w/128 RAM

Thanks, I dl them and copied the to the root directory. But, when running on directx, my screen shuts down, I hear the music but can't see a thing, and ALT+CTRL+SUPR, ALT+F4, ALT+TAB do not work, is that normal?, had to reboot to get out.

Definitly not normal. Can you post all files ending in .log in your root-directory as well as system?

Thanks,

Rincewind

P.S: Does OpenGL work?

Since we are all doing this project in our spare time. Release data is "when it's done". Also, we are always in search of new people, so if you feel you can contribute, post in the recruitment center.

You might also want to take a look at the roadmap section at docs.projectxenocide.com to see how the project is getting along (will maybe make you feel the wait less long...)

Greetings,
