Well, Ive decided it was time to muck around in the wonderful world of X-Com.

Hopefully Ill manage to get J'ordos to help me on some of the more complex parts such as using Apoc'd to enable construction of Psiclones x;

 

Id also like some information on where the graphics of the Vehicles are kept, as I cant seem to find the cityscape graphics. x;

figured they'd be in ufodata but arent. *shrugs*

Needed info:

How to add inventory images (on the scroll bar)

a way to disallow certain aliens from appearing

First file uploaded is the backup of your tacdata\Unit folder which is most of the files I am editing.

Im doing this simply because alot of us forget to back things up [:

 

Second file is the New tacdata\unit graphics for your own agents.

Are you sure they aren't in ufodata? The bigveh.pck and smalveh.pck files look a little suspicious. The file names in general seem to suggest that there are cityscape map graphics in this directory as well.

Well Im about finished the graphical modifications on switching the various armours around.

 

Problem with the marsec change.. As the other armours Im swapping around with dont have a flying animation.. hmm..

 

I think I might just change the marsec armour later on to be a heavier armour than the megapol o:

 

NKF: I took a look at Bigvehicles and Smallvehicles

they are simply the images you see in the equip menu

Small by the name pointing upwards, while big is the vehicle aimed to the right on the sliding bar.

 

Looking further through the ufodate folder, its fairly clear that its mostly aimed to inventory images.

I did manage to find the imagesof the vehicles, but Ive already decided on a much easier and more conventional way of doing this ^^'..

 

 

Edit: Is there any known way to "unzip" Pck files?

 

Edit2: Fixed up the flying marsec suit, and uploaded the new unit graphics.

Which vehicle graphics do you mean? The icons in the selection tab or the actual vehicle animations you see moving around in the city? The icons can be found in the 'VS_ICON' file and the vehicle animations in the 'Vehicle' file, IIRC. All in the ufodata folder.

 

What exactly do you need for the manufacturing data?

Well, when I run Apoc'd it shows only so many of the items on the list.. its rather dissapointing for me ]:

 

one of the main things was the armour's of all three types, then all alien tech(or I could just BUY from the aliens^^), and of course Ufo's :D

 

Yes, thats right. Late game I plan on enabling Ufo's.

Ive already started on the vehicle back grounds for them. and decided Purple is more appropriate for alien craft. ^^'..

 

Also, is there any real way to stop the Alien alerts from coming in? I mean, the cult is supposed to be Helping the aliens.. not be called to destroy them xD!

if not, Ill just turn Cult and aliens hostile on civilians [:

 

Another question while regarding this, is there any way to change Civilians into rent-a-cops? Im pretty sure that would be along the same lines as Alien 250% was working. x;

Yeah the manufacturing list is limited to what you see. If you want to produce other stuff you'll have to replace an existing one. The only item that can be replaced without any loss is the Dimension Destabiliser, which was supposed to be produced by xcom but never made it in.

Can't think of any way to remove alerts, or government funding for that matter.

Again, currently no idea :) .

What about setting the govt. to hostile? I suppose that would end the game, wouldn't it?

 

Or how about rewording it so that they are bribes rather than government funding? You know, quiet under-the-table dealings with corrupted senators to keep X-Com and Megapol busy while they stage a coup de tat to seize control of the city for themselves?

I dont see why the government wouldnt give the cult money.. they sure as heck give the Gangs money O:

If Mutants are Alien/human hybrids, why havent many mutants decided to join along their breathren O:

They probably see the hybrids as not being the genuine article. You know, cheap imitations.

 

Besides they're tired of sectoids now. They're yesterday's "alien" alien. The sectoids have been known for so long now and they're so well understood that they aren't alien anymore. They're so commonplace. The cultists want something new and exotic. Something fresh that'll give them the same kicks that the sectoids did back when they first appeared.

 

Hmm. I don't know why, but I'm starting to think of the cultists as a bunch of weird perverts now.... :D

 

That pixellated sectoid in their basement is probably just being used because the grays are generally used as the the generic symbol of alien creatures.

 

To be more serious about it though, there probably are hybrids, what with the cloaks and all. The game just wasn't designed to randomise hybrid and android potraits on their guards.

They're not true androids then - just humans with android portraits! Heh.

 

Really, though, it's not that they can't be mind controlled. The AI doesn't even bother to try!

 

Overall, the game's implementation for androids is no different from than humans or hybrids. They do have their own rule set, what with not having experienced processed and they start with better starting stats. Just from what I can deduce, androids must have a flag that tells AI units not to even attempt to use mind control or launch brainsuck attacks (where applicable) against them.

 

Otherwise, it is possible for androids to get brainsucked (has been witnessed by other players and myself - although these are usually extraordinary circumstances), and were they to get attacked by PSI, they'd suffer the same fate as humans or hybrids if the attack were to succeed.

Ive had a few Androids getting brainsucked myself in my Android Solo missions xD..

Now I always bring two instead of one. ;-;..

 

Kinda defeats the fun I guess.

 

 

Psi attacks have also happened on my androids

During one of the alien buildings which had many of the goo aliens, my NKF Doll got mind panicked and killed three of our forum members ;-;..

 

..Ive never actually put up a "Forum members in Apocalypse" But I do keep some of you in my line ups for giggles. p:

Anyone who wishes to help can start helping.

As this is a graphical modification mod, and I do indeed have alot of things to do which dont involve xcom (sadly:() I have decided to make a simple template of the Ufo inventory screen, and I wish for you kind fellows to help me out by dibs'ing various ufo's and doing the images shown in the inventory. p:

 

Group efforts tend to move faster and complete rather than solo's xD..

 

Credit will indeed be given. =D

You've probably had more than enouh time to find them by now, but a while back you were looking for the cityscape ship images. They're in ufodata\saucer.pck - it contains both the UFOs and X-Com ships.

 

Just finished copying XED 1.4-a5 off my ancient PC to work on my current system (in Dosbox - won't run otherwise) so that I could run a few toxin-c vs. no armour damage tests and spotted the ships while giving the program a quick look over.

not very effectively of course sadly. [;

 

I tried swapping the graphics of an alien probe and a hovercar, only to find the graphics no longer animate, even when the settings between sequential and directional are swapped.

 

 

But I still really need a way of adding the scroll bar images in the vehicle equip screen ]:

Even if it was half assed and just meant I had to use a hoverbike for Ufo's or some shuckeroonies. XD

 

 

Looking for the city scape graphics before was an attempt to get out of that sad sad problem.
