Guest stewart
Why didn't I think of that; I almost did with my joke post by the same name. Reminds me of the time Mike Judge (Beavis and Butthead) was a guest on the David Letterman show (he's a big fan of B&B ), anyway he asked Mike to do some of the voices and he just did a quick Butthead laugh. Letterman says, "I could have done that!". Judge replies, "Yeah, but I thought of it first!". Well done young man! Two thumbs up ---> d=
Timil
Well... I read it again in a forum and I thought it was a really better sig to bear in this alien base crushing forum
Guest stewart
You know come to think of it. If you go to an alien base and kill all the aliens, shouldn't you have the option to keep the base?
gangsta
Logically yes, but game logic would say that it would make you too powerful too fast. I suggest a self destruct is activated when you end the mission. then again ya usually disassemble it.. hmm problem ....
Guest stewart
Not nessessarily. The bases are full of alien facilites that are of no use to you. The only thing of use is the space. But as you say from a gaming point of view it causes problems.
gangsta
I say we say that X-Com destroys the alien bases because of alien technology that they don't know how to use and that the aliens will want to retake the base as soon as possible to use such technology against humans. Could be some sort of alien weapon at each base or something. Or even better how about a global climate control system that is trying to change the athmosphere of the earth and X-Com doesn't know how to shut it off other than destroying the base. Guest stewart
Yeah probably better just to sweep it under the rug. Less to worry about.
gangsta
I think the climate control thing probably would work best and would be a great addition to the ufopedia. Climate control could also explain the purpose of putting an alien base on earth in the first place since the aliens could do everything else from mars. Timil
Instead of terraformation an marsianformation (if marsian alien)
gangsta
actually climate control would be part or terraforming. Maybe the first step? Also they would be changing the atmoshphere which I also ment. Hmm what are all the steps of terraforming? each alien base could do 1 of those. gangsta
So far I can think of climate control, atmosphere control, then one that changes platlife and one to mutate animal life. These aliens love playing with genetics. Guess thats a biolab but I would make two kinds one for animals and one for plants

Climate control could also explain the purpose of putting an alien base on earth in the first place since the aliens could do everything else from mars.. Putting a Base on earth is done to improve/increase the alien operations on earth. Agents leave the base and drive rather than fly in and get shot down by XCOM. That's explanation enough, I think. Though the base facilities aren't formally defined, you guess at them; one type of them is alien habitat. BTW there are alien base facilities that only show up on Mars and I don't just mean the Brain-room.Which reminds me, what about adding weather/seasons to battlescape (it never rains and axial tilt = 0° in XCOM). gangsta
hey you are being counterproductive. We supposed to find a reason to explain why X-Com destroys those alien bases instead of using them for gameplay. I like the idea of having the base have a more dangerous reason on being on earth. Guest stewart
Maybe they don't destroy them. They gut them then the empty base is given over to the local government.
5parrowhawk
Maybe they turn them into theme parks to generate extra income. Picture a guy in a big fuzzy Reaper suit handing out balloons.

gangsta
Maybe they don't destroy them. We need to increase the size of the reasearch tree afterall
