localhosed
My favorite program for slowing down just about any program is here : http://mion.faireal.net/BES/ I'm using it to help slowdown tactical mode's animations on my ~3.7 year old PC.You can give a limit of percentage of normal cpu time to any running process. You can use "watch" to wait for UFO Defense.exe to start running to use fullscreen without alt-tabbing. You may have to do this twice for BES to recognize the program, i don't know why. The slowdown is usually not as steady as having a slower computer especially at extremely low percentages given to the program, but it is steadier than other slowdown programs i have used and it has been very stable and effective for me with a variety of games. I haven't had a program crash that I can attribute to BES. If you're using a split exe like with Xcomutil, i just point it to tactical.exe. No known problems yet, except for you may need to adjust movement/fire speeds faster to compensate to your liking. I'm running XCOM CE at 30% normal speed ( -70% ). I had to change movement speeds to 6 to compensate, and terrain animations aren't as slowed as on the dos XCOM, but it is a big improvement so far. It might work for hyper geoscape speed too. I plan to try that also.Works well on Cyberstorm 2. Edited August 7, 2009 by localhosed
Soyoki
Has anyone tried this? When I use the app, it works great to slow the game down, but garbles the Sound.
oldfan
Too fast of a clock on geoscape used to be a problem for me to. I don't know what I did at the time after downloading a bunch of stuff to make Seb76 UFO extender work, but all of a sudden the game speed was reasonable. I recently had to reformat my hard drive and I did backup the Xcom directory, only to erase it later by mistake. I am now unable to make game speed normal again.:-( Did anybody had such an experience by any chance?

I downloaded Mok's patch:http://www.xcomhaven.com/ufo/mok.phpAnd instructed to have it load via the .ini file (or renaming the file to UFO Defense.exe). Caboose
@oldfan Can you specify what you did to make that work? Does it still work? (For slowing the time down.)
oldfan
@oldfan Can you specify what you did to make that work? Does it still work? (For slowing the time down.)Yes, it still works. I believe it is Mok's .exe file. However, I believe it grinds the CPU - the bottom of my laptop is always ultra hot when playing XCOM. I tried more than a few other tricks but all have failed.
