cceller
What is the max you can set your soldier attributes to? I edited some for fun and now start each mission with 0 for energy, increasing after each turn. Which attribute controls energy? Thanks - Chad
j'ordos
I think max was 255. Beyond that you would get strange stuff.
Guest Jim69
Strange things eh?? Hmm, I'm gonna try that, what kinda things do u mean? Crashes or just strange things.
j'ordos
Strange things, like in strange things... I once had a soldier with over 100 Tu's (no editing, just happened!), but then all of a sudden he had like 3 (three!) The guy couldn't even take one step a turn :o ! Nevertheless I still kept him: a shot with a laser rifle would take 0 (that's right, zero ) TU's... And with editing stuff like that can happen all the time, don't know about crashes though... Guest Jim69
Quality, I gotta try that. Maybe 1 time u might get unlimited TU's
miceless
Somehow I doubt that. Bugs very rarely go in your favour. Those are the ones that they work very hard to fix.
[NKF]
Note: Old versions of UFO (mainly v1.1) did not have maximum stat caps, and you could train most of your stats beyond 255. All your stats have a maximum of 255 (though bravery is a slightly different matter, since it displays its values in 10 point increments). If any values go beyond 255, the numbers wrap back to 0, 1, 2... etc. You see, in hexadecimal (base-16, we normally use the base-10 number system), 1 is 0x01 (the 0x just means it's in hexadecimal), 2 = 0x02, 16 = 0x0F, 17 = 0x10, 18 = 0x11, etc, 255 is 0xFF. 256 would actually be 0x100, but since we only use the first two hex values (a byte or 8-bits), it ends up being 0x00. In binary 0x00 = 0. So we're pretty much back at the beginning again. Newer versions of the game (1.4 and 1.4CE) have caps for all the stats to prevent this. You no longer gain any experience when you've reached the maximum. Some of the caps that I remember are: TUs: 80 Health: 60 Energy: 100 Strength: 70 Firing Accuracy: 130 (though it's very hard to get. 120 - 128 is more common to achieve) Psi Skill: 100 I can't recall what values you get or reactions and throwing accuracy, but I'd assume they'd get up to 100, and probably slightly beyond. There's also a chance of getting 1 extra point beyond the listed values for most of the stats. Most notably, for health and time units. --- So what does this mean for those with older versions of the game? Share the experience, and have an all round good team rather than crippling a super soldier! - NKF Edited December 31, 2003 by NKF
