Economic Punishment

Recommended Posts

Well guys, i´ve been thinking that perhaps, if we have LOTS of frienly nations and HIGH scores, we might get some influence in those nations to economicaly "punish" the infiltrated ones (Escepting the US of couse).

F.e. If China signs a pact with aliens, in the next month (with a REALLY HIGH SCORE) we might ask US, NATO and others to press China to break it. The chance of breaking the pact would be proportional to our score in a month.

Then, what do you think about it?.

Why should the US be exempted from this? Everyone should be treated fairly and equally when it comes to punishment. ;) (I mean it would be easier to implement rather than have arbitary rules and excemptions for various super nations)

Basically what you are doing is bidding to the UN (or whatever group that's managing the political side of the project) to have the other countries increase diplomatic pressure on the withdrawn country into returning. Perhaps the disposition of the withdrawn government to you should also come into play.

Say for example that if they are only mildly ticked off with you after withdrawing, the 'diplomatic pressure' put on by the other countries may just get them back into good graces with you on a probationary status until you are able to convince them to continue funding.

Now if they were 100% and utterly disgusted with you, having a few friendly nudges from the rest of the countries will not deter them one bit. Then you'd have to take more extreme measures - but that's for another discussion.

(Trade embargos, bribes, blackmail etc - we don't need to know all exact details - just that something is being done).

But I don't think most people would be fussed if countries did not return as long as the project does not get shut down after everyone withdraws and if you are able to find some means of sustaining your funds. You've still got to pay the corporations that provide and maintain all of your goodies, after all!

Perhaps assasinations... like snakeman said...

But why not our own inflitrators? I mean because Aliens have and we should get somebody to do the dirty job.

Here is the only problem I see with nations trying to pressure each other in certain ways:

Reporter: So why again are we putting an embargo on all trade to France?

US: Because they are funding the aliens.(fudge)

Reporter: Excuse me?

US: Oh...uh...Yeah, their um.....funding a..... new Alien movie! Yeah! Resurrection was so crappy we have to do something before the next monstrosity.

Reporter: <_<

Yeah, this type of punishment really doesn't work. The aliens and xcorp are secret.

I have a thought real quick though, if a country joins the aliens, then later changes it's mind, it should require a lot of missions to free them from alien control. Rooting out infiltrators and bases and such.

Just a thought.
